got it in my head that I want to give a sidecar a go, mate had one a few years back and it was awesome in the snow and generally a good laugh.

what should I look for and where, any for sale? thinking an enduro one on my drz would be pretty funny! guess I would need to have it built or do it myself which would probably go badly wrong lol

I was looking at an enfield and side car but decided against it.

If you corner to the left too quickly you'll fly the chair (you'll be on two wheels) which can be amusing but can easily cause you to crash.

You want one with linked brakes otherwise it'll cause the bike to pull to the right under braking

you can't just lean a bit more if you've gone into a corner too fast, it corners like a car, a badly handling car.

having said that, some people love them

My grandad used to have one on his Ariel 650 because he couldn't afford a car in the 60's. Got it fitted at his mate's garage, took it home and tried to go round a roundabout, only to discover too late that leaning did nothing and he ended up going straight up the middle of the roundabout Rolling Eyes

I've just bought a lightweight sidecar for the winter. Its a Squire SL1 (looks like a bond bug) which I believe usually get fitted to Vespa's. Mine has an unusual chassis which was previously fitted to an MZ but I'm planning on fitting it to an old CD185. Just working on how I'm going to mount it. I've emailed the manufacturer and they say pretty much anything is possible and to send them pictures of the chassis and what I want to fit it too.

I'm hoping it wont be fast enough for the handling to scare me too much as I own another double adult side car which I'm hoping to fit to my Kawasaki GT550 but the small one comes first so I can learn the ropes!
Looking forward to slowing that with drum brakes Very Happy

I've been lucky enough (depends how you look at it) to have spent quite some time in France and have seen some fantastic sidecars over there, really modern stuff fitted to bang upto date bikes, big naked Kwaka's and the like, all colour coded - just don't see them over here but i'd certainly like one

I have just bought a Squire lightweight to fit on my XJ650, mine was also fitted to an MZ. A bit ironic as my last work bike was an MZ...

At the moment i am waiting for a mate to fit it. To be honest i am terrified, the last time i tried a sidecar it didn't go at all well.

The person who is fitting mine is going to give me lessons. Hopefully i will have got the hang of it before the snow comes.

You should fit the double adult to the CD175 then it will never lift.

It's more than steering works the opposite - well, until you are on two wheels I would guess?

Can't see any good use myself.

Maybe if you can't afford car insurance and your trailer is already full?

Be fun to fit a side car with twin lewis guns, back & forward facing. I guess plod might object though.
