Hi all, I'm looking at a 2002, sv650 looks quite good on the photos hopefully going to see it next week for close up inspection, only problem the seller mentions is tyres will need replacing fairly soon, am planning on using the bike all year round, so something that isn't too bad in the wet or dry. So question is how much am I looking at for a pair of tyres for the sv and what types do people recommend?

Michelin Road Pilot 2 or 3. Best all around/commuter tyre out there (wet and dry) Thumbs Up

Price: £220 according to the first few Ebay results.

BT023's in my experience are as good if not better than PR2/3's (best is a matter of opinion!) and probably cheaper than them too now they have been replaced by T30's.

I found the BT023's a lot harder tyre than the PR3's. Thus they took longer to warm up and just felt more harsh and unmanageable on short trips.

Seen the T30's in the local tyre shop on offer. The tread pattern doesn't look as good as the PR3's for water dispersion.

I had PR1's on mine (They're cheap and surprisingly good), they got to 8K miles and were still going when I traded it in, M&P usually have pair deals on the Pilot Road tyres.

Penny Coin Penny Coin =

Since your wheels are same size as mine (i think), and there's no mention of your annual mileage OP.....I'm going to recommend my Conti Attack SM's Thumbs Up £204 fitted and balanced from my local rubber shop.

https://www.conti-bike.co.uk/userfiles/image/attack_sm_pair.JPG

Which i've estimated is going to work out to about 7p per mile in terms of tyre life expectancy. Sick Twisted Evil

Ideal thanks all much appreciated, my annual mileage won't be that much to be honest 2 mile round trip to work when It's to wet to walk(or I'm feeling lazy) a couple 6 mile round trips to my wife's nursery a week and a good ride out once a week to keep everything running right and up to the right temp every week as well so not massive to be honest. So by the looks of it I'm looking and where between 180 and 280 ish for a pair. Not as bad as I thought. If I do go for the sv are they hard to do general maintenance on? And any dodgy areas I may need to have a closer check on when looking at the bike? Sorry for the questions it will be my first bike so got all the usual excitement. Hopefully a mate of mine will be coming to look at the bike with me if he can get the time off work if not then it's just me.
