They are fine. Unless you really need it ignore the remote start, it serves no real purpose and causes most of the problems.

My college provided the cyclone v2 alarm for us to fit to our kawasaki er6-n s.

Very very simple to fit but make sure you read the very vague and technical instructions, ones such as "follow the fat red wire from the battery".

The way it tells you to wire in the immobilizer is a complete bodge and should not be used.

It tells you to remove the ignition fuse cut the + wire then attach I think grey and pink < this is the bodge way.

You should cut the wire then put grey one side pink the other.

Make sure you soldier and not just twist the wires like one of the students in my class decided to do.

The remote start is also very easy aswell there is just a wire that comes out the alarm box and goes to the starter solonoid (the alarm sends 12v down this for remote start)

There are 2 yellow wires for indicators one in either side of the rear indicators (splice to the positive side of indicator don't touch earth)

The hardest thing when fitting the alarm was hiding it!

Sorry if I missed anything I'm telling it from memory

Pretty sure you have to connect two wires to the ignition for the remote start to work. I would not connect directly to the solenoid at risk of bypassing all the safety circuits. It would work but what happens if you leave it in gear and forget?

I have to agree that they are not easy to locate if you want to ensure that the tilt sensor works and the siren cannot be disabled in a second.

I believe that the traditional retort is 'hilarity ensues'.

Quite loud. Wouldn't bother with the remote start or the immobiliser.

My immobiliser died on me in Spain, which lead to hot-wiring the bike because I couldn't be bothered to track down an electrical issue when I could have been riding.

If in gear and sidestand down mine will not start on the button. So I'd say hilarity depends on make and model.

TBH because of fear of lektricity gremlins (they exist) I'd not wire in a remote start (why would you need it, cars I can understand, but bikes Confused ) and I'd think carefully about wiring the immobiliser. On the basis I could undo it if it ever became an issue.

The point is that wiring a remote start directly to the solenoid bypasses all that 'won't start on the button' malarkey.

Also known as "disabling safety interlocks".

If you don't believe me, test it - put your bike in gear on the sidestand (press the button to confirm that the bike won't start) then take a bit of wire from the battery positive terminal and touch it on the solenoid signal connection.

Then, pick up your bike.

Dont do this if you have a yammy, they need to be wired differently, misread the instructions for my xj and still have charging issues to this day. Must have burned something and i cannot find what it is. If you really dont care about remote start I'd ignore that function because it also requires you to bypass the anti hotwire security system as well. I had remote start working on my previous YBR 125 and it wasn't worth the hassle as i never used unless i was trying to jump scare someone Very Happy

I have the spy 5000 alarm and apart from my cock up with remote start its really good and easy to install. all you have to break is the ignition wire (red/white on my bike coming out of the fusebox) and use the two sets of wire (I cant remember which ones are which now but the instructions tell you) to complete the circuit and the immobiliser will prevent the bike being started.

The alarm could be louder but im a light sleeper so it never bothered, my neighbors ginger cat always used to jump up on my bike at night (on top of the cover) and trigger the alarm and wake me up at 2 in the morning and just run off Smile
