Thinking of getting some mushrooms for the cat. Seen these on ebay, are they any good?

No

They are cheap ones.

Do yourself a favour and invest in some R&G ones only.

I had those ones in auciton on my ZXR400, don't think I ever really used them but they weren't much good by the looks/quality of them!

I bouht some R&G ones only to find that I had to drill/cut holes in my fairing and sent them back.

Maybe I will regret that decision one day but there you go.

I guess those that don't require drilling are not strong enough.

You may have to cut the fairings, but they are a permant thing really and you'll more than likely leave them on a bike when selling, so it's a permant fixture to save your fairings in event of accident so cutting the hole isn't that much of a problem unless for some reason you want to remove them at some point...

I was well against cutting my fairings but i'd rather neatly cut my fairing and fit a crash bung than throw it down the road and scuff everything.

more importantly, they are meant to prevent casing damage rather than just fairing damage

which if it means preventing the ingress of shit into your crankcase or worse, bending the crank then cutting your fairing is a small price to pay for decent protection
