Hello!
New here and new to biking so bare with my lack of experience
The other day while riding into work my bike suddenly stopped revving and dropped until it stalled as I came to a stop, I was unable to rev any higher but pulling on the throttle seemed to slow the dropping down. The headlights and dash were lit up and seemed fine but the bike wouldn't start for a few minutes. Eventually got it running again and the same thing happened by the end of the road. Finally got to work and left it there for a few hours, but the same thing happened within 5 minutes on the way home. Lights and dash still worked but this time the exhaust was popping like mad. Got it started, nearly got all the way home and the same again, no more popping but the headlights and dash went completely. Tried to turn the bike back on but it just made a very low ticking noise with no life.
Came back to it this morning and it started after the third attempt (its freezing here) with the headlights and dash working fine.
So far I have taken the battery out and put it on charge. My charger said the battery was in good condition and started charging from about 12.8v and unplugged it after a few hours at 13.6v. Battery tester said its resting volt was 13.3 which then dropped to 13.1 after half an hour (I have no idea if this is normal).
Anyway sorry for the long post. The bike is a 2002 Honda XL125V Varadero.
Thanks!

The running bit sounds like carb icing. Get some ProFST (or plain isopropyl alcohol) to add to the petrol.
The lights/starting bit sounds like a battery that's on the way out, but not quite there yet. Starting to fail under heavy load in the cold. Check how it's charging when it's on the bike and the bike is running, too. ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>
