Aerox seems to be lack on power, Use to set of pretty quick but now its slow and crawls up to 30 then hits like a powerband upto 42, What could be the cause of the loss of power?

What im about to say refers to the 50cc 2S version of this ped.

(im not aware of a 4s or bigger size yet)

the fact that it reaches 42mph tells me that youv either Big Bored it or that its unrestricted in another way. 2 strokes need a handful of very basic needs to run thats: Fuel, Air, Spark and Compression.

first things first check your plug (always check the plug) plugs can tell great stories i do believe it should be a nice light chocolaty brown colour. If the plug is a sooty black it means its getting too much fuel and not enough air, if its a whitish tinge on the top then its too much air and not enough fuel. Sparkplug problems can be helped by tweaking the air mixture screw and slamming a new plug in. - I could be wrong about the colours its a while since i had an issue with my bike. Also check the spark plug giving a good spark (fat blue), you can do this by taking the plug out of the head and holding it against the head whilst cranking on the electric starter. if the spark is weak or orange then it could be the coils or the cdi. if thats the case then try borrow a friends coil pack and CDI and see if it work any better.

Secondly do a compression test because if your bored it out or fit a big bore kit then chances are youv worn the piston rings early by having a sneaky WOT (Wide Open Throttle) every now and again. There is no shame in admitting youv WOT'd it with a new kit (I'v done it too lol) its just an expensive piece of humble pie when you replace it. If you dont have a compression tester then whip out your plug and use your thumb to fully cover the sparkplug hole and create and airtight seal, press your thumb very hard and crank over the engine on the electric starter... the vacuum in the chamber should push your thumb off the hole meaning yippeeee its not new BBK time. if the engines attempt to push your thumb away is very weak then its new piston rings time or worse new cylinder kit time (take the head off and check the barrel for scores or marks also while your at it take the cylinder off and take out the metal fillings under your crank with a magnetic screwdriver or anything with a magnet.)

Fuel: make sure the bike is getting fuel by disconnecting all the fuel hoses and if you can poke some electrical wire down them to make sure there are no blocks or junk in the hose, then check your fuel filter if you have one, should normally be an inline filter, they cost pennies to replace, i think you can get a pack of 5 on ebay for £1 ($1.68 ish) , if thats all clear then check your petcock (the tap at the bottom of the tank) because they also have a filter in them that can get clogged with junk that fall in the tank whilst filling up.

Air Filter, if you have chavved it up and put a K&N filter on then make sure its been jetted to accomodate it, if however you have kept the sponge filter make sure to wash the filter propely (petrol,2 stroke oil etc etc ) i personally use soap and water then spray abit of 2S oil on and leave to dry, also clean the housing that it sits in.

I refer to Chavs alot... Sorry but with my past experience with ped riders, its normally scrotes speeding around dangerously in 20mph school zones with the trackie bottoms and motorcross helmets. I live in a rather nice area but we still get the scrotes tearing up the kid's playground on their little hairdryers.

I understand there are genuine riders out there that use peds because they are affordable and fun transport (i myself used peds untill recently) so if iv offended you then sorry.

Check your variator, your drive belt is likely to be very worn. If not you rollers in the variator maybe square.

Other things could be the main jet in your carb could be partial blocked.

When i had mine, incorrect roller weights caused a similar problem, so it may be worth getting the crank case off and seeing if there is a problem with the rollers, variator or drive belt.

if its just gone slow then it wont be carb or anything like that, either could be something to do with the CVT, the Variator and belt most proabably, pop the kickstart casing off, then gun the Variator bolt off (looks like a small fan) then slide the belt off of the shaft (remove the restrictor washer if its there Wink , make sure to tell dvla etcafsdfkak) then pull the variator off and check the Rollers, they should be smooth and circular, no flat spots, if they have flat spots, the bike will accelerate and sit at the same speed for a while then slowly gain speed.

could also be your top end/low compression so like the other guys said, compression test etc!

PM me if you get stuck!
Thumbs Up

It won't run at all with a 90-112mm carb.
