Doubt that if new bike injection.
Carb bike should be ok.
Remember to put in 2nd gear to bump.

Call me a coward, but as this was the first time riding since my CBT in June, I really didn't feel confident enough doing that Embarassed Well, I did give it a go, but it was a very feeble attempt. Also, it's my first bike and totally new to me, so I didn't know what I was doing so I called the RAC (yes, I know Embarassed but...) and he jump started it and tested it and it wasn't holding its charge so he said I need a new one.

Bump starting is something you need to learn when you feel up to it. Or get someone to show you how it is done.

It could be the difference between 2 hours at the side of a road waiting for the RAC or 5 seconds pushing it and releasing the clutch.

This is coming from 3 weeks without a RegRec in my Fireblade and bumping it left right and centre.

Careful now. A new what? A new battery, or sort out the charging system?

You'll want to get yourself a £5 multimeter and find out if you're in any doubt.

Go for it, just be aware that there are a lot of posts in the Workshop section that start "So I put a new battery in and a week later the new one is dead as well..."

Been in the same situation a few years back with my 125, chickened out of dealing with it also at the time and rang breakdown - might as well at least once if you're paying for it Razz

Bloke that came out to me also multi-metered it and told me about how to do the tests myself in the future which was really helpful, i was clueless to what a multimeter even was until that point Whistle

Have a shop around for new batteries, can be quite a large difference in price between one from the local dealership and other sellers Thumbs Up Used Yuasa ones on my bikes the last few years without problems and always seem a good price.

It would have been helpful if he'd shown me how to do the tests as well. Had it been something wrong with the car, I would have asked. Because it was the bike, I felt a bit overwhelmed with the unfamiliarity of it Shifty I knew what a multimeter was though Wink

I've ordered a Yuasa battery (and the electrolyte and a charger) from various places online but it's not going to arrive until the middle of next week and then I have to set it up Sad Can't wait to get riding!!!

Have you checked the electrolyte in the current battery? It might just be dry, and you can get distilled water at most supermarkets or garages for pennies. It's an easy thing to check, or to skip checking.
