So i've just put my hornet up on ebay and within 10 minutes got this message,

Obviously polish but think it's legit or am I just generally too paranoid considering they've not even made an offer to view the bike first and they're based the other end of the country?

"Full Name: kornel bomb
Country: Wielka Brytania

---------------------------------------------------------
HI I can offer 750 cash pick up tomorrow evening let me know if is fine for you

Sounds like a piss take offer for a 2003 Hornet to me. People on ebay will always offer you a stupidly low amount.

Had someone offer me £1500 for my 954 when I put it on ebay within a few hours.

Yeah the name struck me as odd. The price is fine. Only listed at 800 as massive mileage and a few issues

If you're happy with the offer, then accept it, but leave the auction up. Cash on collection, and make sure they aren't iffy notes.

hi,
on a side note, the polish buy almost anything, simply cos they can ALWAYS make a profit back in polski.
i happen to speak polish btw (i have a few polish friends & 2 polish lodgers) so if you want to ask him anything in polish, let me know.

i've had guys in transits come to my garage & buy wrecked old bikes, pay cash (usually too much) & never hear from them again. good old eec,
cheers,
GAZ

Not saying it's always the case, but in my experience and others on here, the East Europeans bike buyers tend to be the least hassle.

As mentioned, they can make good money selling them on in Poland for a fair bit.

Looking at his history he looks to buy a few bikes so couod be right about them shipping off. How does that work with the new owner part of the v5?

Fill it out as normal. Depends if he is exporting, you'll have to fill out the exporting section. From memory I think you send off the exporting slip and they take the rest of the V5.

Just ensure it's all filled out correctly so the DVLA don't have a reason to moan.

Nothing to do with you whether he exports or not after you have accepted his cash.

You fill in the V5, so does he, you give him the green new keepers supplement and you send the V5 off to the DVLA. Simples.

If he's exporting does it not work like if you sold it to a dealer, or is it only if you're exporting a vehicle that's already registered to you?

I sold my written off Hornet to a Polish Guy with ebay name of Maciora11. He responded to my advert within 20 minutes with a cash/collect tomorrow offer. I let the advert run & he won paying a bit more than his offer but tried to haggle when he collected until I unlocked the garage and started to wheel it back.
No feedback yet (10 days) and the V5 was filled in for export together with him signing & address the Cat B letter for my info.

..The V5 sent registered post to DVLA (as they lose everything)

Cash on the nail & collected. Ive no problem where it went, but would have preferred it to stay n the country for an 'enthusiast' repairer.

......but you know, I still have that nagging doubt that DVLA will contact me next year about something untoward about it..

If his money has the Queen's face on it, or a spitfire or something, why not? Sounds like a lot less hassle than a typical eBay fantasist anyway. Thumbs Up

Seems like every other ad for a bike on ebay mentions something about "time wasters" necessitating a re-listing. Doesn't exactly encourage me to buy their bike though, it might have been rejected for a good reason.

It seems the only thing that they're doing is deterring potential buyers. It's not as if the bovrils they deal with are going to be bothered by a "no timewasters" and it is implying that anyone who is considering to buy the vehicle but decides against it is a time waster.

well, all a bit odd really, someone eventually turned up at 9pm (originally supposed to be 7:30)

didn't speak very good english but looks as though the buyer buys up a fair few bikes and sends drivers up the country, however he didn't have room or something so planned to come pic up tonight after heading up to scotland last night (paid me full cash though)

So currently have the cash and bike, however just got a message saying his trucks knackered and he's stuck in dundee at the mo but will let me know when it's fixed and when he'll come pick up the bike.

now either this dudes unlucky or theres something dodgy? can't see what angle any dodgyness could come from though if i've currently got the cash and bike?

Seems to have a fair number of bike purchases on ebay though with favourable feedback for collecting and paying etc (74 within the last 12 months, 262 total)
