Oxford heated grips

Sorry for yet another thread on heated grips.

I've more or less decided on a set of hot grips. Oxford seem the way to go for my 125cc as they sell specific models for 50-250cc bikes and scooters.

Unfortunately there is a lot of talk all over the net about the control switches failing.

So I've had a good look over the net and found there to be three stock codes....OF698, OF771 and OF772.

OF771 are listed as there commuter hot grips. All specs are the same as OF698 and OF772. The only difference being the control switch.

My questions are. Is OF698 and OF772 older releases of the Oxford Light grips?

Are the OF771 (commuter grips) a better option with the different control switch, is this switch more reliable?

I have the tourer hot grips.
As far as I know there are two styles a budget one for scooters one for and commuters. They also have a premium range. The premium range includes Tourer, Sport and Adventure. They all run at 4amp and have increments of 30%/40%/50%/75%/100%. The difference between them is the style of the actual grip. Sport is super soft and grippy, tourer is a bit harder, adventure is even harder.

Of the budget series, the scooter ones are the least powerful (3amps). They only have on/off switch. The commuter ones are slightly more powerful and also have hi/low/off instead of just on/off

Old controllers were shit & blew up, oxford re jigged the range to sort it.

Now you have Sports, Adventure & Touring on the new V8 controller which is the revised version of the traditional controller. rrp £79.99

The "Original" grips had the controller binned, fitted with a flick switch simmilar to the scotter ones and are now marketed as Commuter grips. Same heat, less control over it. rrp £59.99

The Cruiser grips suitable for the 1" bars remained with the tried and tested blingy chrome dial controller. rrp £79.99

The "Light" grips got rebadged as Essential Scooter grips and had a flick switch/drew 1amp less current than the rest of the range. rrp £39.99

so you heat the grip, then you wear thin gloves so the heat can get from grip to palm of your hand.

the outside of your hand is only protected by a thin glove and exposed to cold air! = cold fingers!

why not just heat the glove?

they are in direct contact with your hands! - result - toasty hands!

i got the keis heated gloves with 3 settings even on max they only consume 12w between them. your brake light bulb draws more than that!
