OK, seems to be a lot of non running chink stuff available for next to nothing, Is it worth buying 5 or 6..making 2/3 runners - selling them off to offset the cost , then breaking the others for forks frames etc..or isnt there a large enough call for parts yet???

Opinions pleeeeeeeeeeeez Thumbs Up

Wouldn't bother, return isn't that great.

I've had a chinky bike, fairly mint on an 11 plate for £230. Bought new handle bar and speedo, sold for £400.

Add in the price for tax, insurance to cover for that period, you end up not earning much.

I just posted a similar replay in - "i thought winter was a good time to buy a bike . . ."
After all costs profits (for me at least) are from £250 to £375 per bike and that is from the big 4 plus KTM (all 125cc units) and you wont be living off that but after around 4 units per year i can trade in my big bike add the profit from this and end up with something a bit nice all for no money from my pocket - never tried a Chinese unit, i doubt if there is any money to be earned there

hmm... seen a few scooters for less than £100 11 reg upwards..
usually cdi or stator gone, so approx £30..
Sell for £3-£400 put £130 aside, so 170-270 profit....etc etc..
may see whats about after xmas, as eldest daughter wants a rev n rip for her 16th, so may get her interested a bit in the 'how it works' side...rather than 'It's broke' Rolling Eyes

I bought a 125 chinese twist n go scoot for a tenner.
cant remember the name, (it was a yellow one does that help? Razz )
Plastics all buggered and sorted with pop rivets gaffer tape and filler
but got it running and to be fair it all worked.

As I recall it had about 2 thou on the clock and when I went to a local
scooter shop for a cable I asked the guy what lifetime one could reasonably expect from the motor
"About 4 thou" he replied
Sheet!
Had I invested any serious dosh in it or hoped it would serve as a commuter for couple of years I think I would have been a bit
depressed by this.
I dont know how accurate his statement was and what he based it on,
but if a guy dealing in them figured they are past their prime so soon it doesnt inspire confidence.

It was just plaything to me and flogged it on after getting it MOT'd

In an attempt at fairness I think many early ones were built to a price not a standard and hear some
Chinese manufacturers are upping their game as more western companies get involved.
I did talk to guy with a Sinnis 125 who loved it and pointed me at some rather positive reviews.

I think its possible with a cautious attitude and research that some half decent machines may be found

Don't call it a chinky, "chinky" is racist.

Chinese people are cool:

You'd have to learn the market, and figure out what bikes are compatible or re-brandings of each other. Plus, and this is what might give you pause, you'll need to deal with the sort of people who are in the market for used Chinese bikes.
