Pass the popcorn

...preparing for another spanking thread about people being paid to go on jollies in the name of charity Very Happy

Personally I'd say a round the coast of Britain would be more of a challenge. Or the most northerly, easterly, westerly, southerly points of the mainland. Then again they're stuff I'd just want to do for myself anyhow (done round coast of Scotland - excellent trip).

I'll consider it my charitable act for the day to restrict myself to saying: well, at least the clue is in the username.

Why do you expect people to give you money for this?

Can the chosen charity be the "discouragement of charity motorcycle rides charity"?

Oh and a van to get to the start/finish?

Do you really dislike riding bikes that much?
Is that why you think it justifies people paying money because you're riding them?

the idea of the van is for the smaller capacity riders and those with 'less comfortable' bikes to get there. wanna organise the biggest ride possible to make the most possible. this is the reason for the page, not just to promote but for constructive advice and suggestions.

Sounds like a horrible mix, requiring some to feel like they're always playing catchup and others to be waiting around all the time or barely tickling the abilities of their bike.

If I'm going for a ride from a meet for a bit with a variety of different bikes - I'll stop and wait at junctions for slower bikes than catch up with the people at the front if on a faster bike. For a ride of that time, it's going to get irksome I expect.

this is the reason for the planning page. hopefully will have enough to split the group into faster and slower riders.

With the 1400, its basically a ride in an armchair.

Why not join the brethren and use a 125, more of a challenge Thumbs Up

firstly I already have the bike, secondly it means for the slow group we have at least one fast bike in case of emergency (although I don't know what emergency it could be) thirdly I means we have a large bike for marker duties and finally it's comfy and I love riding it. simples Laughing

OK, I'ma a try to be constructive. Really.

#1 50cc peds are too small. 125s can hold a real minimum 40mph up hill and down dale, peds will struggle with half of that. With the best will in the world, there's no way I'd ride that slowly to stay with them.

#2 Failbook page is word salad. The current plan should be easily available right at the top, rather than searching through posts and replies.

Yes, I know it's under active discussion, but, IMO, people are more likely to get on board if you give a confident impression that it is going ahead.

That sort of ride you do with a few mates and tell people afterwards.
Ride up to JoG then to LE then home again.

it's happening, but as I've noticed whenever anyone organises something everyone wants to run it I decided to let everyone brainstorm and then pick the best ideas and date etc (avoiding the important stuff like moto gp) after new year.
can't see anyone doing it on a 50cc, but as there may be some wanting to do it on a classic, or vespa or just a learner wanting to do a big trip it's best to say open to all as these things seem to be full of big bikes and pushes out the smaller ones. that's why I'm getting a list of definites and their bike size so I know numbers and powers too. the page will evolve as time goes by but it's easier on bacefook to let everyone chip in as it's more accessed by the masses than anything else. still want opinions from forums such as this as it spreads the word further.

Even if I did this on a 125 I'd get pissed off waiting for little Johnny and his ped crew every 30 seconds to catch up.

Plus keep in mind that you'll have luggage too - you may as well walk if you're considering doing it (or letting people do it) on a 50cc twist and go.

Honestly, make it a minimum of 125cc bikes or you'll spend a week just getting to the border.

Which charity?

Are you paying for all your own fuel and other costs?

You really think people on litre bikes are going to want to ride with kiddies on 50cc peds?

You've been here since 2008, have you not seen how thread like this turn out and what BCF thinks of them?

Don't let the doornob hit you in the pussy on the way out?

Doubt it'll happen, to be honest (the ride, not the flounce).

I've decided to start racing bikes for charity. If you could all sponsor me to do something that people do for fun I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
