In Scotland, the government for the main Air Ambulance service.

Now, what do you know about the ones in England?

Do try and do a little research yourself, seeing that you're the one who's apparently going to all this effort for it Smile.

So you keep saying. Repeatedly.

I don't really mind about the chaaaridy aspect, but here's the thing.

As it stands, your site gives one date, which presumably is the start date. It gives a vague start location: John O'Groats. It still says "no engine too small". If you've imagined some minimum speed limit then you've done a piss poor job of communicating that.

It doesn't give:

Duration / end date.
Route plan.
Miles per day / hours per day.
Hotels and camping sites at the planned stops.
Your name or contact details.
The promised fliers.
And links to donation sites or sponsorship resources.

You've written a lot about what you're going to do, but shown very little about what you've actually achieved.

If you want people to book... some... days off work to join in, then you need to make it look as though the ride is properly planned and is definitely going ahead.

As it stands, I'd expect you'll spit your dummy some time in May or June, blame the naysayers for our negative waves, man, and call the whole thing off in a hissy fit.

And now to our regularly scheduled memepics.

I'm not bothering with updates as everyone here is up their arse apart from a few so don't see the point. if I'm getting wind up comments i'll do the same back.

Still waiting to hear how you're getting the money to the "UK air ambulance".

If you haven't done this very basic research, it'll sound more and more like it's pure scam and not to do with charity at all.

Congratulations on only a semi flounce rather than a full flouce Thumbs Up.

Care to point us to where you posted, rather than the flouncering?

If it doesn't explain how it will be divied up, how will the money be divied up between the two groups, then between the seperate air ambulances?

Please read the ratings guidelines.

And apologies to the people's who's correct ratings I just unintentionally revoked Embarassed. (Alt-tab, click, alt-tab, click may be quick, but entirely foolproof!)

Did you start it?

What's the duration and end date?
What's the actual start location and time?
What's the route plan?
How many miles per day / hours per day?
Where are the hotels and camping sites at the planned stops?
Where are the promised fliers?
Where are the links to donation sites or sponsorship resources?
What's the minimum speed required of "no engine too small" participants?
What is your name and your contact details?

I'm struggling to get this across. Please, please understand that if you don't actually communicate all these thoughts that you're thinking in your head in a durable, easily findable format, then they're of no use to anyone else.

cut off date for registration is june 1st. email bigrideout@yahoo.co.uk to register. need name, email, bike, pillion and age. payment for accommodation will be due on the 2nd of july. we'll book it when we know numbers mid june and let you know prices.
this is an easy charity ride out. not knee down peg scraping. we're aiming to avoid motorways but we may not be able to completely. there will be a central charity 'pot' to donate to.
we will have a van with us in case of breakdowns but you will need your own recovery.

Laughing

So you're going to be wanting money from people taking part? Nice... real nice. Laughing

There's no reason why you'd need to go on motorways. If you haven't managed to work out a non-motorway route yet then your ride is going to go more wrong than previously thought.

And "there will be a central charity pot" suggests that you've still not sorted out your justgiving page or suchlike. Surely that should be one of the first things you do when you start to organise some type of charity event?

But knee down (and peg scraping if you really insist) is easy - lean bike over and either stick knee down, or body up so bike goes down for pegs. So don't see why they would be excluded because it's for charridy?

Also, does OP have a faulty shift key, or is he just lazy?

John O' Groats to Lands End via the Cat and Fiddle, no highways, ferries or tolls.

To add more destinations, click the "+" to the left of "Avoid highways, ferries or toll", add your destination, then drag the destination up to the required order in the route.

The question is, is he well intentioned and ACTUALLY motivated by "helping others", or is he telling himself he's well intentioned but actually acting in the interests of self-publicity.
Sadly many, many 'charity' events like this seem to be run by the latter type of person.

No doubt in their mind it's all being a good member of society and so on. But not sure a psychologist would come to the same conclusions.

Thanks to Mongman for rating my sarcastic post about going racing as 'abusive'.

You sir, are obviously of very high intelligence to be able to fully and correctly comprehend the meaning of the word 'abusive'.

Given that the recipients were an afterthought, I'd imagine that what's really going on is that OP just doesn't feel comfortable about having a jolly unless it's to the tune of a can being rattled.

However, that doesn't preclude my assessment from being correct.

I honestly do wish him the best of luck and hope that he has a great time; my major concern-troll is other participants being left in the lurch.
