Hi I need BCF help again with an issue with Holiday insurance.

I'm going away abroad for a week in about a month, but have an issue with holiday insurance. Now I have declared in some quotes about my existing minor medical conditions and what medication I need to take etc.

But I'm due to have an Operation to remove one of my testicles soon (horrible thought I know!) , and it could be a case of it being affected by cancer.

What should I do with regards to declaring the above on any insurance quotations, as I don't yet know what the situation is regarding whats wrong, other than I'm having a ball chopped off lol!

I'm thinking not to mention anything as I have no definite condition or info to declare. What would other people do? I have a feeling that if I have cancer that holiday insurance is probably not going to happen anyway, but I havnt really thought through all the implications of how my cover will be affected if they find out or can check on my medical files?

Does everyone bother with insurance for a week in the sun doing normal sitting on the beach type stuff? I've been away in the past without it im sure.

Cheers.

Holiday Insurance and Cancer don't go together, we've given up declaring my wifes cancer.

I'd plead ignorance and not worry about it, unless something happens specifically relating to that issue it shouldn't be a problem.

For example I see my wifes cancer as no different to a broken arm, yet people with broken arms are allowed insurance, cancer "victims" aren't Her doctor has even said she is cured, not remission, cured.

Ignore and buy cheap.

Riding holiday in Spain, 10 days cover... I couldn't get any medical cover due to illnesses, once I added having cancer in the past and the current issue with my heart, they wanted substantial sums that would equate to that of a basic house. Laughing

I still rode like a knob Laughing

Where are you going?

If it is in the EU get a free EHIC card which covers emergency healthcare for new and pre-existing conditions.

Might be worth getting travel insurance as well but adding cancer to the application will make it prohibitively expensive.

If you haven't been diagnosed with cancer then to the best of your knowledge you do not have cancer, so do not declare it.

Beach type holidays are low risk, but it only takes a second of drunken foolishness or twatish foreign driving to rack up a few thousand in hospital bills.

Cheers guys!

I've just found that I still have an in-date European health insurance card, I went abroad 3years ago, so I must have applied for it then. Smile

Yeah as you say I have not been diagnosed with anything yet except a ball bag the size of a large orange lol!

I will go ahead and get a cheap insurance policy to cover my existing stuff just to be on the safe side, but as you say I'm not going to be doing any adventure mountain climbing or Jet skiing etc.

Thanks for all the replies!

Paddy, I'm sorry to hear about all your previous issues preventing you cover as well. I hope the trip to Spain was an absolute blast though! Smile

Be cautious if you are somehow hospitalised in the EU its a national hospital that operates under EHIC card schemes. If you get carted off by a private ambulance to a private hospital you could still get a huge bill.

Eastern europe has a particularly bad reputation for this.
