Sale without V5?

How hard will it be to sell my bike during the time the DVLA are preparing my V5? Just bought bike and have new keepers slip but havent received the V5 as yet. A turn of events is making the prospects of selling now a compelling option to save my hind....

Having the green slip is a good start, but it likely will lower the sale price.

Problem is that the market's going to get much worse in the next couple of weeks - really not many people thinking of buying a bike in the couple of weeks before Christmas, nearer it gets the worse of course.

If you don't put it up for sale, I 100% guarantee that you won't sell it.

If what you meant to ask was "How should I sell a bike without a V5C" then I'd suggest:

Don't even mention it in the advert. You'll only put people off. Tell them if they ask, but don't make a big deal of it.

Write up and print off a letter to the DVLA transferring the keeper. This is totally legitimate.

Have this to hand and ask the new keeper to fill in their details. Sign it in front of them and tell them that you'll send it off immediately (and then actually do so, and I'd suggest recorded because of reasons). Give them the new keeper slip. Job pretty much done.

As a buyer, I'd be happy with that. Although I would be very interested in why you're selling it so quickly, and I'd be rather disinclined to believe your answer.

Indeed - I'd tend to agree.
I've wasted hundreds of quid in fuel in total travelling to see vehicles that have been lied about or had stuff hidden.
While not disclosing it isn't a lie, it's certainly something that will make people think a little.

An obvious possible scam is someone sells the bike and has the old green slip. They go and steal it back, what with having the new address, then sell it again. Ok, that's perhaps a bit high-brow, but I'd certainly be irked and be then factoring in the cost of an HPI check at the very least.

If I'd travelled some distance to look at a bike without thinking to ask if the V5C and both keys were to hand, I'd say "Silly Rogerborg, caveat more, emptor".

more worrying is the amount of bikes being sold as
'Lost Tax' or 'Lost keys'
either of which COULD be ligit...but screams "keep away"..
