hey guys, im currently wishing id just shut up and not offered to help a local lad with this.......but i didnt.......so i am Laughing

id like to pretend hes got a cg125, but i cant - its a chinky thing, a superbyke sbs125 Embarassed

anyhow, it was stolen by local chavs and hes got it back in a proper state, among other things they have chopped off the entire wiring loom Rolling Eyes

all we're trying to do is wire it up enough to see if it still runs and charges etc as £ is a bit tight for him to waste any on a dead engine, not looking hopeful considering what they did to the bike but got nowt to lose,

iv managed to figure out the 4 wires from the cdi, the mags pretty straight forward, its just 1 wire on the reg/rec im not sure about,

its a 5 wire unit, its the black wire im struggling with, can someone with leccy know how cast your eye over this pic and tell me where its sposed to go.... please Smile

seem the black goes to pos +, but whats the K1 in the diagram ????? is it the ign switch ??? and the K2 item ????

cheers all Smile

It's a switched live.

Any switched live will do. Just find a wire that's live only when the ignition is on and use that.

That diagram looks like a test-rig for checking out a suspect reg/rec rather than the actual wiring diagram. The switches numbered K1 to K4 will appear on a test chart somewhere along with an expected reading on the voltmeter when they are switched on and off in certain orders. It does however tell me which order your wires go from how they are connected.

As you've already worked out, pink and yellow to engine, green to earth, red to battery positive, black to a switched live. If you can't readily find one, I usually use the feed to the back brake light switch.

Aye. On mine there isn't a black wire on the reg/rec. There is a black and white wire from the CDI that's the kill switch and the white stripe is very hard to see.

Or if it doesn't start when you press the starter button then the black wire circuit feeds the starter button, from the ignition switch, which in turn switches the starter relay.

I reckon the black is the sense wire.

The RR gets feedback via this and adjusts the DC output accordingly
to compensate for voltage drops when say lights go on
Snags can occur esp on older bikes where dodgy connections
prevent good feedback
this can make the output voltage rise and cook the battery
I've been clamping the RR sense cable to the battery positive terminal on my bikes (plus others) for years and got a nice steady
output with no smoke or flames Laughing

A lot of modern RRs regulate internaly and dont have an external sense wire

A photo of my pared down loom if it helps. You can make out the colours of the wires.
