...not sure it was quite how it should be? A 800 vtec; it wouldn't do 30mph in any gear higher than 2nd, and there was a loud fluttering/thrubbing noise from the front/top of the engine when you tried to pull at all from below maybe 4k rpm, and whenever you opened the throttle at higher speeds.

Is this normal for a vfr? I'd always heard they were silky quiet and utterly flexible to the point of boredom.

Had the VFR 800 Vtec for years and was a sound bike. I would avoid that bike if I was you, try another I'm sure you'll love it Smile

Sounds like the exhaust is blowing to me.

As the others said, avoid that one. I have an '03 Vtec VFR and it is smooth as anything low down and pulls reliably and predictably throughout the rev range in all gears.

When around 7k rpm in 2nd and above there is a small but noticeable boost when the VTEC starts to work and the engine noise changes.

Mine is a bit vibey although that may be down to the aftermarket exhaust more than anything.

Thanks guys, I'll probably put that whole garage on the "avoid" list... there's another one local to me I may have a go on, but there's something else I've got my eye on at the moment...

If you come up London way I may be tempted to sell my VFR. My wife and I are looking at moving to New Zealand at the end of next year so will defo sell then but I could quite happily sell it now and use it as an excuse with the Mrs to get a replacement before we go. I really fancy a big naked...
