Ok, well I've decided that seeing as my KMX125 won't get loads of use over the winter, I might try and make it a bit more original before Stafford 2014. I've rung a few Kawasaki dealer's and I can't get hold of an 86 spec blue seat with the KMX lettering printed on as they are NLA.

If I were to have a seat re-covered in the correct blue, can any seat specialists actually print the logo on that I need, and if so would this be done before or after the seat cover is fitted?

If anyone knows of a place that could do this then please let me know.

Cheers.

you'd probably be wanting a hot press vinyl which would be best applied to the cover before fitting it.

Just an idea, but if I could accurately cut out a stencil of the KMX logo, which is a bit complicated for the 86 model, then could I just tape said cereal box stencil to seat and spray some white paint of some description onto it for a great result, or would I end up chucking the seat in the wheelie bin and stomping back into the house?

Thoughts?

I presume you want it to be like the original?

Otherwise getting it stitched on may well cheaper and longer lasting.

For paint you would need something that can handle being flexed all the time.

Hi G, yeah your right TBH I want the bike to look as original as possible, but only bodywork, paint and decal wise.

Mechanically I don't mind it being non std at all.

I would like a Blue seat to match the colour of the blue stripe/fork Gaitors, but it's only worth paying to change the seat if I can have the correct KMX logo printed onto it. I don't think a stitch on logo would be any more durable or look right though really?

I'd be happy to send a seat (probably my spare 200 one) to an upholsterer to have it recovered properly if someone can do it like an original. Failing that I might have to try hunting down NOS spares, but if the big Kawasaki main dealer's can't get them, then I don't know where to look really?

Vinyl paint is crap. I tried it on a old seat once and it was a fail for application, staying on and looks.

I probably did someting wrong but I would never bother again.

Get it done by someone who knows what they are doing Laughing

I'd expect getting a logo stitched on (or more expensively, stitched in) to be a good bit more durable than most printing options.

I wonder if there is a company that specifically does printing for motocross or something? They tend to be pretty tarty; ironically enough when their bikes are covered in mud half the time!

Contact this guy, might be able to help. I know he does logo'ed stuff, but i'm not sure at what stage the material needs the logo applying somehow.
