VFR400 help!

hi guys just picked up a vfr400 nc30, starts fine runs ok, but has a very bad misfire and splutter around 6-7-8rpm then revs fine after...iv read this is normally something to do with the speedo or something but cant really get my head around it. Can anyone help me with this please.

There's a resistor in the speedo which may well be responsible. It links directly to the ECU, and functions as a 'derestrictor' of sorts. Have you had the speedo off of the bike at all?
