Really interesting. Even call centre staff are being rendered obsolete!

The tracks that play automatically afterwards are pretty cool too. Thumbs Up

10 more years and this will be standard, along with fully automated warehouses, car plants, cars, aeroplanes, trains etc.

I mean I know some of them are fully automated now but when the cost of all the tech comes right down, they will just completely replace humans.

The end is nigh, Sky Net is coming, the robot overlords will take over.

Still easier to talk to than those fuckers over in India.

Seriously though, some creepy but slightly cool shit.

When some one calls me and starts with: ,,do you have time for some questions?''- I hang up. Thumbs Up

Before that you should say:
"Yes, I charge £60 per hour for my time, so to continue with the call can I take the long number from the front of your card please?"

There is a theory that these are not 'robots', but foreign telemarketers with an English accented sound board...

I'd be more inclined to agree with Swampy than believe it's voice recognition.

you wait that long?

I've found any more than 2 seconds of silence and it's being transferred to a tele-marketing company.... but then I don't even get those calls any more Twisted Evil

I rang the apple call centre the other day to get an old invoice. They have some really good auto voice recognition (it could completely understand my spoken requests in my dodgy northern/london/european accent) but they're still a way off this call.

This one definitely has human intervention and I think the canned responses explanation is a good call.

I know what sort of voice recognition thingy your or about daemonoid.
The sort of one that asks why you are calling and matches your choice words it to the right option on the call platform.
I guess it's the evolution of technology no one pays attention to , it's still quiet impressive, even the blatant Indian chap with the soundboard Laughing

I hate voice recognition systems they don't understand geordies, only London English and of course American. It's like that sketch when the two Scotsmen are trying to use the elevator for me.

If it were important, their number would be in my caller ID list and I'd actually pick the phone up Smile

Yeah, I rang them about two years ago to buy a laptop as a student - only way to get the discount when you're at the OU and it was terrible. It ended up just dumping me with an advisor after failing 3 or 4 times. Irn-Bru, you should give it a try as a test... Ring up and pretend you're wanting to buy an iPad or something.
