Hello all, hope you all had a good Christmas

Ive got the opportunity to purchase a B1H Model Ninja with 26,500 miles

now, after getting stung on my R6! I would like pros and cons from members on here who have owned one, any common faults or anything to look out for?

I would be using it pretty all the time except ice/snow and would like to know how it copes in city riding, reliability is a must and im 5ft8 so does it need lowering etc

general experiences with these machine please, as for looks i think its one of the best kwak have made

Thanks all

I own a C1H but ive riden a mates B1H a lot. Excellent bike for the money Thumbs Up

Fine as an all rounder if you dont mind the position of a sportsbike. Should be fine heightwise, you wont be flat footing by any means but should get both toes down comfortably, or slant over to one side to get a foot down.

Valve clearance check/possible adjustment is due at the mileage youre buying IIRC so maybe something to be aware of if its not been done already? Not sure how they are for needing valves adjusting myself.

I've had 2 and would get another although both had half the miles of yours.

No issues with mine except fork seals had to be done on both, mostly because of too many shit wheelies.

A friend had one that tapped loudly when cold so maybe check for that.

How much is it going for? If it's reasonable, get it. Superb bikes, lovely handling, USDs and radials which you won't find on similarly priced 600s, excellent engine and looks good too. The only problem will be comfort, or lack thereof; fairly stiff and the riding position is less forgiving than a CBR for example. Compared to moder 600s though it's probably very similar.

I have to admit when I look at the B1H vs modern supersports I struggle to see what progress has been made.

5ft8 you big jessie!

I'm 5ft 5 and have never needed to have a bike lowered. If it helps I've ridden a B1H with a raised rear ride height and it was perfectly fine for me. It was a very very good bike and I enjoyed it very much. I doubt it would be ideal for town riding though as the suspension is very hard as standard and it has quite an extreme arse up head down riding position.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I had a C1H 636, ex track day bike and it was totally reliable. Only about 12k on it when sold but it had been thrashed, dropped, slid on track, so probably equivalent to a lot more miles!
Just valve clearances to think about as per previous post.

Height isn't the important part when it comes to how flat you get your feet down, rather your inside leg measurement. Mine is 29" so im a short arse, I've owned a b1h and its tip toes both sides at best, or one foot flat on one side.

Its a fantastic bike, but not the most comfortable, very hard rear shock for the road so if you are light like me expect a lot of ass/air moments on bumpy back roads.

Its a lot of fun for a 600 class bike though, if its a daily I would reccomend a c1h instead however

I owned a 2003 B1h from 2006 - 2008

Pro's

Fast, even by todays standards
Lovely induction roar
likes to wheelie off crests

Cons

Likes to do tankslappers (like a mini 2004 zx10)
Needs a steering damper
incredibly uncomfortable

Fantastic bike when you are in the mood. Incredibly uncomfortable when your not.

I'd have another.

I am 5 foot 8 and it was absolutely fine for me.

Off the line acceleration was equivalent to modern day 600'S, if not faster for me. I use to beat my friend on his 2010 Gixxer 600 quite easily. Well it probably was just inches but it feels more when you're riding.

Midrange felt nice for a 600, and it does look great for a 10 year old bike.

Only 3 known issues. One was riding position for me. I cramped up riding from Wallsall to London, and even once with C dug when we went around Gants Hill to I think nearer Lakeside. It's a really sporty position and if you are quite stiff then long journeys will be difficult.

2nd was the stiff suspension. Very bumpy in London.

3rd, I heard gear boxes can go on Kwaks but that's not first hand.
