After not having had a bike for about 15 years, I was just given a hand me down from my old man. I want to remove the cassette to replace it, and am trying to figure out what tool I need to do the job.

It looks like this:

Looking around online, I think that I need one of these https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/super-b-freewheel-sprocket-remover-tb-1045-prod27348/ and a chain whip, the front of the cassette unscrews and releases the rest of it. Am I right? If not, any suggestions on what I need, or how I can figure it out?

Yeah, that's what you need.

Be sure to get the correct one, however. The Campagnolo differs very slightly from the Shimano one, so check what you have on there first.

I'm not at all convinced that's a casette.

I've not seen a freehub lockring welded to the sprocket before.

If it's a freewheel like I suspect, the whole thing unscrews. Or is supposed to. They don't like to and the longer they've been on, the less they like to come off.

If it's a freewheel, get the tool in a vice and hold the rim of the wheel. Turn the wheel against the tool for maximum leverage.
