aprilia sr50 problems .. desprate for help

Hi, I have got a suzukia ay50 but I noticed the engines in then are aprilias Sr50 dietech engine. I am having problems with this scooter, it will not start and when I finally do get it to start it backfires and splutters when the throttle is on.
I have just took the compressor out to check it and seen they is a load of black liquid in there.
Any ideas on what I can do to sort this scooter.

AY50 Katana, not an SR50 despite using that engine at one point.

The Katana actually used a few different engines depending on what year it was. Would be a lot more helpful if you listed the bike you have, rather than a completely different bike that uses the same motor.

Is it even an Aprilia Ditech engine or the Aprilia carburettor engine?

Is this the item you were reffering to as the compressor, or are you on about something else?

Yes that is the part I was talking about, the scooter Aprilia Ditech engine its a Suzuki ay50 katana 2005 model

I can get it started without to much trouble now its just when its started ... It will idle great but when I give rev it, it splitters and backfires.

No idea. The ditech systems weren't very good at dealing with engine wear...Would probbably be best to go and find a dealership who's got the gameboy thing for it and scan it.

Or convert it over to carb.
