Aprilia RX 125 Rotax 123 engine - broken gears

Hello everybody,

i have an aprilia rx 125 w/ rotax 123 engine, unfortunately i have just discovered that the nylon balance gear and nylon idle gear have been destroyed inside the engine.

I have found online that replacement reproduction metal balance gears are available and was wondering if these have been successfully installed and tested in the rotax 123 engine?

secondly, from my research so far, i have not managed to source a reproduction metal idle gear - does anybody know if these are available?

The nylon gears are a service item, although I suspect very few people change them before they fail.

Not heard of the replacement metal gears. Any links?

sounds crazy to have a service items such as plastic gears inside the engine! discovering these plastic gears is making me consider selling the bike and look for something better.

heres a link to the metal balance gears i have found, appears they are used in rotax go-kart engines.

From memory the NSR125 also has plastic gears in the clutch area.
