Hi All

First post here. This is my '87 FZR Thou. Picked it up a week ago, but thanks to the shit weather and lack of a garage, I have just given it a good look over and made a list of the parts that I need to do. Plans are to keep the stock look, but upgrade the calipers and MC to R1 blue or gold dots, maybe change the rear swinger, so I can fit a bigger range of rubber (rears an 18") but keep the twin light endurance fairing. first things first and it'll get an oil change, coolant, filters rtc. all the usual stuff. Then just use it. not to fussed about the battle scars, after all, it is nearly 25 years old and I'm not into spending time with a tin of polish.
Cheers
Daz.

Sweet, loved my FZR600.

BT45 was the tyre of choice on the 18" rear, which was about right for the capability of the rest of the bike.

Nice looking bike for its age Thumbs Up

As for a rear tyre,a friend has a Pirelli 160x18 on the back of his '87 Genesis and he said it is ideal for his bike

There are plenty of owners on www.fzr1000.co.uk

Cheers guys. Smile

After reading up on the 18",160 rear. it seems it suits it ok.
My fightered FZ had a 190 and although it looked good, it didn't feel as agile in the bends.

I had exactly the same bike but jap import 750 model. It was fast enough to slip stream my mates 120 bhp gixer 1100 flat out and the fairing was a lot more slippery than my previous 750 slabbie...but I hated it .the 20 valve motor was like an electric motor and the handling turned nasty when you least expected it! Tankslappers were not fun with the narrow and thin bars.....I didn't mind them on the gixer and early blades or even on the rgv...but on the Fzr...not nice! I think if I'd had the 1000 I would have enjoyed it more due to the extra grunt....and not having to over ride it everywhere to keep up lol!
