I'm after a flip-front helmet for under roughly £100,

after looking around I was thinking of a nitro F341, seeing as though I currently own a nitro and so know they fit me pretty well.

Do the bods of BCF think this lid will be alright? Can't say I'm too impressed with the 3* SHARP rating, however it's still better than my current helmet.

Also do you reckon I'll be OK ordering one from a dealer online? seeing as though I know the fit should be OK and I can return it (seeing as though its from a reputable dealer)?

Cheers Thumbs Up

a lot of people on here dont live religiously by sharp ratings, to be honest it's just coincidence that all my lids were 4 stars - my main interest is that it is a good fit.

however, i don't think you will be able to return a lid after buying, i've never heard of it happening. how do they know you aint dropped it good and proper?

i've never owned a nitro lid, so it'll be good to hear peoples opinions.

first lid i had was a Duchini619 flip with a visor, i got it for £90, and it done me well in my first off too - though not sure if it's still for sale anywheres

Some similar/useful stuf here

I'd go for it. I'm not much of a believer in all this ratings business.

An accident is unexpected and unpredictable - the amount and way you hit things can't be predicted, and neither can how a helmet will respond. Yes if its mady of putty it isn't going do you much good. But if its to a reasonable basic standard, you have as good a chance as anyone else IMO.

Plenty of people in elite-price helmets die every year. If its approved to a basic level and fits, i'd ride with it.

See that's one thing that bothers me, specifically when buying them off of eBay, a lot of sellers stipulate that you can return them should they not fit you properly,

I might send them an email beforehand or better yet ring them up, as I really don't want a lid that somebody has bought, kicked around and then returned to the seller for a different one ...

I have thought the same about Ebay lids. And to be honest its a 'gamble' to some extent. But the chances of it being dropped to an extent that damages it internally and leaves absolutely no mark are quite minimal I would of thought. Check it over thoroughly externally when it arrives - if theres a single mark, return it. Otherwise i'd be happy with it Thumbs Up

I have the Nitro F341-VN flippy and am happy with it. It's big and bulky, but so is an equivalent Caberg. They're feature equivalent.

The chin bar retention rate is decent, and the impact protection is weak in the sides which some really expensive marques will tell you is just fine. Whistle

If you really want 4 or 5*, get a Caberg. If not, Nitro is OK.
