Hello, i have a derbi gpr 125 2T, got it cheap. Sadly the forks are in really bad shape, the chrome is peeling off in places, some areas the size of a five pence piece. I sadly need to get her in for an MOT, but i am really tight on money, so a new set or forks of re chroming is not an option right now. any suggestions or fixes to get it past an mot ? i will post photos tomorrow. Hi

Not sure that corroded forks alone would be a fail. But they take the fork seals out rapidly and that is a fail if the MOT tester can see it (gaitors on conventional non USD forks will hide that).

To stop them tearing up the seals you can clean the pits up,fill them with Araldite and send them smooth again.

Note the above are all bodges Laughing

All the best

Keith

Yea; gaiters should do you fine for MOT providing they are not leaking TOO bad.

I've done the araldite thing a couple of times and worked ok.

Use araldite precision.

Clean up forks, the fill in holes smoothing over all with a thin layer.
Then with some VERY fine sandpaper, smooth it down - the araldite goes cloudy when sanded, so you can tell when you're back to the chrome.
