Right it is sort of like a circlip but a complete circle.

It is part of an old push bike pedal. It is a thin circle of metal with a hole in the middle then 3 other holes equally spaced around the center hole and slightly overlapping the middle hole.

It presses onto a shaft then sits in a ridge the force of pushing it over the shaft causes the inside to bend up and so once it clicks into the ridge it is difficult for it to come out

Looks sort of like this but without a gap.

Sorry for the crap description. Laughing

Sounds a bit like a locking tab washer. You can get them with internal spurs like that, although I've not encountered one with three tabs.

:edit: beaten to it

Doesn't a locking tab washer have a 'tab/s' on the outside diameter that is/are bent onto a nut/sits in a slot to prevent nut movement or twisting of item nut's holding on?

Not if they're listed as internal locking tab washers, no.

They're variously known as star washers, grab washers, grab star washers, star clip washers, wave star washer clips, star tooth washer clips etc. etc.
Take your pick from those names or just make your own up.

It's a 'Star Washer'

https://www.woodworkscraftsupplies.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=134

I just fitted an Abru Loft Ladder and the 'Stowing Rod' is retained in the ladder using four Star Washers.

A 'Captive Washer' is a washer that cannot be removed from the bolt/nut.

https://www.woodworkscraftsupplies.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=134

Thanks for the big portion positive Karma in advance. Very Happy

Starlock is one brand I think. I think they're known as "push-on fasteners" or "push-on fixers" as a generic term.
