Hi i have recently bought a replacement shock absorber for my zxr 400 and i was wondering if it will need a service/rebuild.

Its in good condition no rust or leaks. No obvious damage, threads look a little worn in places but should be ok

Only thing is it has been used for racing so not sure if its worn or not.

Just wondering what people think as the prices have gone up £20 today at the place i was looking at having it done. Thats before you add postage on so its getting a bit expensive

Thanks

only you'll be able to tell if it needs a refresh or not. probably worth it as it's off the bike.

where do you normally get it done?

MCT is somewhere I'd highly recommend, worked wonders for my CBR600 when I had it

The utmost of endorsements from me too. Their workshop is cleaner than my kitchen too, and I'm no slob.

Pay them a visit and get your suspension setup whilst you're there too! Smile

as far as I'm aware you cant rebuild a ZXR400 rear shock

a regas will be around £20 but for a full rebuild your talking £100 - £120

I fitted a gsxr600 k1 shock to my mates zxr Wink

Fit it to the bike them press down firmly on the tailpiece with the bike n its stand.

Bounces up and stops? Good to go. Bounces several times? Needs a rebuild.
