The fender I have is not gonna be big enough for the tyre I am going to run.
Think I might need to go for a CBR6/GSXR6 or similar, front fender, and trim to suite.

OR, do I just run a plastic MX fender, chopped down for proper Supermoto stylez?

Fitted up the rads today. The fit nice and snug behind the shrouds.
Made up some brackets out of some threaded bar, and small box section. Next job will be to neaten them up before the powder coaters.

Pipe work lines up better than thought it would have too. And I shouldn't have any heating issues with these rads as they are made for the Rotax engine.

Finished off the welding around the brackets etc. Fitted a bump stop for the bars. Really must get it to the painters now.

Shock and spring were looking a little scabby, so I stripped it down, cleaned it all up, and painted the spring piss yellow. Laughing
It's actually gold, and looks gold in real life!

I'm not convinced with this shock tbh, but will stick with it for the time being unless I can source a more suitable unit for a good price.

305mm eye to eye, and roughly a 750lb spring.

Frame is going to be painted silver. Wheels, I am un-decided. Original colour for wheels on the AF1 were red, but am tempted to go white for ultimate bling.
Gold will clash with the sprocket and accessories I think.
Black is bland.

Today I received this in the post from my Grandad. Nice little adapter plate to run a 250mm front disc instead of the puney little 160mm one.

Disc sits lovely. Caliper is spot on too. Just need to make up a little ally bracket / torque-arm to go across the top caliper bolt holes.

Wheels are now stripped down, bearings removed, and in the back of my van. Dropping them in for powder coating tomorrow so I can get some tyres bought and fitted.

Any suggestions on colour?

Red (Original colour) I think will just look shit.

Gold - I think there will be too much gold, and too many different shades of gold if I do the wheels gold.

The only other colour I think will look good is white. But I am open to suggestions? Smile

Hi

I would go for white, but possibly highlighted with something.

Or do them mauve

All the best

Oops! Just bought a pair of tyres. Razz

£74 on the pair, delivered.

Went for the Michelin Power Pure SC. Nice and racey. They also have the dual compound which will help with straight line tyre shredding on the rearm as I don't think 13" scooter tyres were meant to be laying down up to 30bhp of 2 stroke madness.

Twisted Evil - VERY supermoto indeed!

I think that's a job for a body shop though, not the powder coaters.

Might just drop them in for shot blasting, then do the paint myself. Mmmmmm. I've never had 2-tone wheels, but I think they look fecking SICK!

Them stickers are sweet. Recon they'd fit on 13" wheels okay though?

I've dropped the rims in for powdercoating. £60 for the pair, and he will do the welds around the sprocket carrier with a filler primer or something, to hide the messy welding.
They're getting painted in a proper bright white like my R1 wheels were. It's the same place doing these.

If I want a second colour I guess I can just mask off half of each wheel, key, and paint them black/gold/red or whatever other chosen colour I go for.

I cant want to get them back and wrap them in Michelin rubber. Razz

Got my tyres today. They feel like they're a good set of rubber. Hopefully they will perform well.

How about a bit more green or maybe even the lavender.
For the half and half or rim tape colour that is.

Tyres sound well balanced and suited. Was there much choice?

I'd have wanted yet another set of SAVA MC31's but not sure if they are even available in 13".

Nah, closest I could get was the MC20 Monsoon. And despite being a 'wet' tread pattern, the rubber compound is worse than dangerous in the damp, let alone the wet!
And the other issue is, they only do them in a 130 width. I cant be having something that wide on the front.

My other main choice were the Vredestein Staccatas, and a set of Pirelli Diablo-Scooter tyres. Both of which are quite un-tested in the sports/race scene. The Michelins seem to have really good reviews in the scooter racing scene. People really rate them.

Sava's were brilliant in the dry. PMT's were even better.

It's a shame the Conti bikes died a bit of a death as they used to run on 13" wheels. They were taken over by the Metrakit 80s which run 12s. Had the Contis still been around, there would be a big market in 13" tyres.

Got my wheels back today. I've decided to go for the 'less is more' approach and keep them plain white.
Might jazz the disc adapter up and have it anodized gold or something.
And maybe some red rim tape (Not sure yet).

Excuse the mis-match bolts. I bought a full set of nice allen bolt high tensile bolts in black, but I've lost the bloody things. Doh!
So will have to order a new set.

Really chuffed with how well the tyres sit, and the size difference is perfect. Rear is wide, and has a night tight curve to it so I'll not run out of rubber while cornering. Front is slightly less curved, giving a wider/flatter contact patch. It's also not as tall as the rear, so It'll help with the supermoto 'rake'. (I hope!)

Pretty snug fit with the swing arm. Can push it all the way forward, and the top of the tyre touches the front of the swing arm before the sides touch. So that's good. Thumbs Up

Went for a candy kinda red in the end. Also painted the central rotor on the rear disc in the same colour, and will probably get some red rim tape (Not sure yet).

Found me bolts too. Very Happy

Rather than forking out £100 for the frame powder coating, just to realize I need to weld something else to it, or change something in a months time. I decided to give it a coat of smooth silver hammerite.
I've mixed it down a tiny bit with thinners to make it go on nicer. It needs a couple more coats, then I will go heavy on it with the lacquer to give it a nice finish.

Waiting on some bits and pieces. Wheel bearings, Chain and new front sprocket, And some hardware odds and sods.
Hopefully on Saturday I can get a rolling chassis. Very Happy
