Hi guys,

My CBR600F sounds like a bag of spanners so wanted to replace the CCT, I've done this before on other bikes but they've always had some sort of pin, they're wound in with a pin, you install, remove the pin and they unwind.

Just got a genuine replacement CCT and there's no pin, nothing accessible externally at all, and the Haynes manual helpfully only has information on the 1000 CCT and nothing on the 600.

There doesn't seem to be any wind in mechanism on this at all, is it a case of just installing it and it does the job itself?

Piccies below

Thanks guys Smile

The item in your pics looks similar to the one on this fiche

Does the pushrod twist and retract?

They work on oil pressure, there is no pin, just install it and ride Thumbs Up

Thanks Smile All installed and ready to go. The one that I pulled was very stiff compared to the new one I installed, so hopefully the engine will be a little happier now.

Just out of curiosity, is this an older design or just an alternative one i.e. any better than the retract and let it go once it's installed type or just another way of doing things?

Hondas are known for cct's dieing, I'd get to know the procedure well, on my F2 I could do it in around 20 minutes by the third time (I gave up and went for a manual one after that, though I've since been told by sickpup that they're generally a bad idea on a road bike).
