So my MTX is slightly worse for wear, the rear wheel is bent as hell, missing spokes AND its a drum brake! the rear shock is also really hard for some reason, and the front forks are dead, leak fork oil and the bushes in the caliper on the front brake are also dead.

my friend is breaking a KMX125, with good forks/swingarm/rearbrake/shock and both the wheels. anyone got any ideas on how difficult it would be to swap these onto my MTX? obviously some spacers might be needed!

thanks!

I can't offer any help on the query I'm afraid, but where is your friend based? I'm after a few KMX bits

Not straightforward.

Possibly easier to put the MTX engine into the KMX.

Or buy the whole lot off him and fix the KMX engine (assuming this is why he's breaking?). Then sell the MTX on as a project for somebody.

Agreed with Dave!

The MTX engine into a dead KMX would be the easier option, however if the fork lengths are similar and especially if the stanchion diameter is the same, you might be able to put the KMX forks into the MTX yokes? Very unlikely it would just fit though.

I would say a complete KMX front end with the MTX steering stem fitted would be a better solution, but your post read as you want to lose the MTX rear wheel and drum brake?

If you can get the bits to re-build the rear wheel/brake on the MTX, then you are just as well sticking with the rear drum, as it will work just as well really as a disc set up IMO.

Having said all the above, I'm sure you would find a later disc braked MTX front end or donor bike to raid for parts, for a lot less hassle than messing with the KMX bits.

The only time I'd put a lot of effort into such conversions would be if I wanted a 200cc engine into either bike that was a 125 originally, and I had a fairly complete donor bike to raid, be it an MTX or KMX etc.

i'm sure this front end would be an easy fit.

not sure if rear shock/swingarm on this bike is an upgrade?

later disc front end bolts straight on Thumbs Up

tbh if you going to replace it all why not just use proper cr stuff ?

sure you'l lose the speedo drive (leccy pushbike speedo will prob be more acurate anyway Laughing ) and it might be a bit of a faff getting it to fit (no idea ??) but, being honda, i'd bet alot easier than fitting kawasaki bits,

food for thought Smile
