parking tickets?

so was in town today as i had to pop into my bank. parked at the nearby carpark, paid £2 parking charge for one hour. stuck the ticket next to my front L plates. came back 15 minutes later to find someone had pinched it but luckily the meter maid didnt clock it.

just wondering what i could done if i had gotten a fine? take a photo of the ticket on my bike before walking off?

I refuse to buy them for my bike.

I got a ticket for not having paid. I called the number on the pack and explained i had bought one and someone must have stole it - how can i possibly display one securly on a motor bike.

They scrapped the ticket.

Bloody rediculous - bikes should be free parking for the reason i noted above.

Some places you can park quite legit, some its not clear & others charge you via number plate - Westminster being a good example of that (£100 for an annual ticket). So I always check. I live in Merton & its free most of the time. But the council has a great confusing website about some of there pay n display car parks. I got ticketed, challenged it & won on the basis that the signs aren't clear. Next borough along is Croydon & they say quite simply no charges. So its a lottery out there mate!!

Check your council website. Many say motorcycles can park for free in pay-in-display spots, usually with some caveat like parking at right angles to the kerb.

If you are required to pay, write "For motorcycle" and your registration prominently on the front of the ticket. That's what you are asked to do in some London boroughs that don't provide free parking or a registration system (like the aforementioned Westminster).

I don't know any parking wardens, but if I were unfortunately enough to have to take such a job it would make my day to snap a picture of a ticket with this writing on it ... in a Land Rover ... just before gluing the penalty notice to the windshield...

I know in York when you had to pay for motorbikes in some car parks (think they've changed the system now) the ticket came in two parts. One you had to keep to prove you paid.

Need to check the car park though. Some don't allow bikes to park at all. So irrelevant if paid (iirc a recent thread on here, Liverpool I think).

had to pay in one place we went to

so we bought one ticket and put it on all our bikes took a picture and off we went

there were hundreds of bikes there without tickets and the parking police were writing tickets for them

we had proof we bought them and took pics so they let us off saying someone must of had ours off the bikes

There are different rules for council parking as opposed to private parking.

In both instances you should appeal to the relevant people and plead your case that you bought a ticket but it blew away etc etc.

If your in the habit of doing the honest think take a picky on your phone of the ticket so at least you have evidence.

If the appeal fails, which it probably will then head over to pepipoo website and follow instructions/advice there!

Most tickets I've seen have a tear off duplicate. You keep that so you have proof of a ticket purchase should the fullsize ticket get pinched.
