Hi all,

I got a problem with a Honda Rebel 125 which i would like advice on before i start doing anything further with it. Basically it starts up fine when choke is engaged, i leave for about a minute to let the engine warm up a little with very very small revs at the same time then i disengage the choke.

This is where the problem starts, the bike still idles with no problem though but when i engage the throttle it cuts out straight away. This is what i have done so far:

- Changed the plugs (could have done with a change anyway) and were fine (i.e. no excessive oil or extreme whitening), no strange noises coming from the engine either.
- Checked the air filter, looks good so no problem there.
- Changed the throttle cable although the problem started before i replaced it as it could have done with a new one.
- Sprayed carb cleaner into carb.
- Checked fuel tank for rust, gunk, rust etc... looks fine.

Got a feeling i may have to strip something or get my hands dirty somewhere but would like some advice from someone who has had a similar problem before i strip the wrong parts.

I can reply to posts but work will not be carried out till tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.

im assuming you have tried using half choke? till youve gotten a mile or so down the road

if so chances are you might need to strip the carb and give it and the jets a clean

Get the jets out mate Thumbs Up Really simple drain the carb, undo the three screws underneath that hold on the float chamber and the two jets will be sitting there in between the floats. Unscrew them and clean! I've had exactly this before and it was the main jet being blocked with shit, conks out if you open the throttle.
