Hi all,

So passed my test back in November, and finally got round to looking for a bike.

Being female, 9stone and 5 ft 4, I seem to struggle with finding bikes to fit me.

Been after an ER6, as I passed my test on that, so I suppose I have confidence that I can ride that bike.

Went bike browsing yesterday & fell in love with a 2001 CB600. Can get both feet flat on the floor and bike doesn't feel too heavy.

What are the thoughts on having one of these as a first big bike?

What about something like a GSX-R 1100K?

The GSXR would be a little better than both those listed, the R1 is too docile and the TLR is too few cylinders. Thumbs Up

I'd have a CB600 if it was cheap Thumbs Up

If we are talking sensible first bikes, a 2000 Hayabusa? Thumbs Up

A Honda CB600, which the RR or the F? Mind you, either will be a much more exciting prospect than an ER6.

I'd get a Suzuki R1 Fireblade and nothing less powerful than that. Thumbs Up

If you can find a decent 500 2 stroke, I'd go for one of them.
They are incredibly reliable machines, easy to ride and very forgiving. Hope this helps.

In all seriousness I'd go for a CBR600F. (Steel one).

Cheap to buy, cheap to run, loads of spares (for when you inevitably crash it) and they perform well.

CB600 is pretty much ideal.

Do you mean CB600 Hornet or CBF600?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Sometimes something just "fits". I tried a heap of bikes then went back to my first choice an XJ6, it just felt "right".

I don't get the whole feet flat on the ground thing i think its a mental illusion its easier. Im quite tall so pretty much whatever im on my feet are flat to the ground but i actually find having my legs straighter (as they were on my WR125) felt more secure than sitting lower and having my legs more bent at the knee. If I was balancing a really really heavy bike I would prefer to be on tip toes than sitting low down with my legs bent and my feet flat on the floor. So don't get put off trying taller bikes.
