Long story short, - I will not publicly name the dealer, as I am in the motor trade, I know it can take 20 years to build a reputation and one customer to destroy it..
I booked my bike into a dealer for a replacement cam chain and manual chain tensioner and any parts that looked worn when the technician got there, and a general service, as the bike is being used as my primary mode of transportation.
The bike shop came back to me regarding replacing the chain and sprocket, lots of engine bits and bob, and front and rear wheel bearings, It was more than I expected, but its a KTM and it does stand for Keeps Taking Money! Plus, as I work in a BMW dealer, I really believe in using the correctly trained technicians who are trained and versed in their brand.
The dealer in question had my bike for a week, which I thought was reasonable, and on a number of occasions came back to me for authority on a number of things, and the answer was "do it"
Anyway, As I was left with the impression these are the only things the bike needs, I had no problem to part with a substantial amount of money... However on the last day I receive a call stating there is a crack in the frame (a massive one at that) and they will not road test the bike.
So my issue is, that they have inspected the bike, and only noticed a crack near the headstock when re attaching a fairing baring in mind the technician would have checked the bike over and had his head next to the crack for the best part of the week.
To say I am angry is an understatement, as I would have never had any work don't on a bike with substantial frame damage - I do not hold them responsible for the frame damage, It feels like this was "overlooked" to get the $$$ for the job and i am left with a massive bill for a bike that would fail an MOT |

My advice is that you should put any communications in writing and if anything is said over the phone, write that down too and send them a copy in the form of a memo. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink.
