Hello people,

I'm yet to upload my project for my Yamaha DT125RE. Believe me it's vast and expensive and would take me a long time to upload to this forum. If there was enough interest I probably would.

I joined this forum because there are some really knowledgable people on here. But stick to the DTR forum because people are usually more interested in my project and bike.

But in the slight chance I might catch a DTR enthusiast then i thought it would be nice to meet a fellow Yammy Very Happy

Interesting project.

That DTR sounds too noisy though IMO, is the silencer empty or does it just need re-packing?

I like the sound of your mods, I wouldn't mind installing a Zeeltronic CDI on my KMX 125, but I think you are better off doing the other mods first and getting a decent base set-up before you play with the ignition/tuning.

What else apart from the supposed CDI restriction, holds back the potential in the DTR motor? Is the airbox lid restrictive at all? And have you thought about just trying a V-force reedblock and bigger carb on the std DTR engine?

I think it's a DEP expansion pipe with a stubbied DEP silencer. Got packing, but the baffle and padding is cut down with the pipe. Don't like the sound IMHO.

My KX 80 sounds better. Laughing

So it's not just me then. I don't like the sound of it either. Sounds shïte.

I think it's just the exhaust is blowing. Keep buying these joining rubbers but they do cack all! And maybe the end can needs repacking.

That engines coming out and a 4dl is going in.

It's been a big project and it's got a long way to go before i'll be happy.

And i'll be getting an underslung exhaust.

Also with regards to V force i believe you're just paying for a name. From what i've read they're load of bollocks excuse my language.

Although I have installed Hy-tec carbon fibre reeds and noticed no difference in throttle response. It seems like it is all a bit of a gimmick.

The only reed block that you can get for these are the standard ones. Although recently i found out that the Yamaha TZR 4DL inlet manifold has a bigger opening and can fit a 32mm carb in thereto save you boring out the standard inlet. So i've acquired that and a Delorto 32mm VHSA carburettor for it as well.

I actually know this is slow and sluggish and took the video so I can see the difference the different mods have made.

Ouch! Dude I don't mind criticism but that was a bit uncalled for to be fair. I've spent a great deal of my time working on this bike. I'm aware it's a bit down on power and that the sound isn't brilliant but at the end of the day it's a 125 two stroke.

I'm sure if you were to read the amount of time, blood, sweat and tears i've spent on this bike you wouldn't be so harsh.

But fair enough would like to see what you have built with your own hands.

There we go. Sorted the powervalve and exhaust now so should sound somewhat slightly better.

Still lacking performance but will be interesting to see what difference the Zeeltronic will make...

Oh yeah? What year TDR did you have?

I've got a TZR 125R Belgarda engine that I've rebuilt and am looking to put in there so this will be one mean mother once it's finished.

I've rebuilt the top end I'm just waiting for some porting work to the top end to be done.

I've also got a Nikasil plated barrel from a 4HW TZR or the TDR's. Quite rare barrels but when I spoke to the technician at Yamaha (Two stroke enthusiast) he said not to bother. Whilst there were gains to be made the annoyance on rejetting it for all weather conditions doesn't warrent using it.

But I think I'm going to keep it. It's all been shot blasted and is clean as a whistle. Unfortunately it needed Powervalve, powervalve end caps and a replate. So it's cost me about £300 in total and I know I wouldn't get it back.

Interesting project. Should go well with the Belgarda motor in it.

Thanks. There is the whole project thread on the internet on a few sites. Properly lists all the machining I've had done to get the USD's on and the wheels to fit. Plus all the little add ons like the RSV Mille master cylinder.

Pictures of before and after and a bunch of photos of me rebuilding this absolutely disgraced TZR engine.

The seller ought to be damned right ashamed of themselves. I got ripped off on the engine as I was told it was working with 'good compression'. You wouldn't believe what I found undearneath the head. Two centimetres of pure sediment because the numpty had put the head gasket on the wrong way round.
