Get a quick strap so you can remove/replace goggles with one hand, handy when waiting at traffic lights with one hand on the clutch lever if they start to fog. Also stops the black eye problem when you lift them to wear them and they slip out of your wet glove and smack you in the eye.

I do a similar thing to Iain to stop figging, just a different brand.

I use cheap goggles, no more than £20. My logic being the mud and water will ruin them, and I'll feel less bad about ruined goggles if they were cheap than mega-expensive. I have used WSGG, GP Pro, and Scott.

Get a helmet suited for the riding you are doing?

Why choose a helmet designed with compromises for an entirely different type of riding?

Just the name of the brand.

Their goggles come with tear off posts fitted, and they're easy to fit rollers to should you desire.

I've left mine, used mine for greenlaning/enduro and down MTBing..

When I see people wearing off-road lids when obviously not riding off road I think "twat", personally Smile.

One of the reasons it's light is that it doesn't have a visor Wink.

Incidentally, while the protruding chin piece is good for off-road for various reasons, it could possibly injure you if you crash on the road and it catches on something.

But <shurgs>, if matching colours is what riding is about for you, fair enough Razz.

I'm sure you can get them at a cheaper price than this. Mine has had about 5 pairs of goggles used with the same strap, I wouldn't use goggles without now I've got used to it.

so in that case...

what do you think when my friend takes her new land rover into town shopping?

or when i wear my ski jacket out camping in cold weather?

and i have a 6 man tent up, but theres just 2 of us?

or when i fancy and eat cornflakes at night?

and eat cold pizza in the morning?

and wear bike leathers not to go riding but to go to a kinky club with not a bike in sight - kidding haha but folks do it

i guess your a really really happy person! - you must go about smiling and laughing your head off all day every day at what folks do! Laughing Laughing Laughing not a bad way to be i guess! happy days!

Did your friend buy the car for using in town? Does she have an alternate car more suitable?
If so; yea, pretty silly.

Skiing jacket made for reasonably cold weather makes sense.
Wearing the same jacket in summer because it matched your trousers would be similar to your mx helmet for road town use.

If you're going for a long hike, 2 man tent would make sense and I certainly wouldn't take my 6 man tent. Otherwise, 6 man tent is useful for the extra space.

Corn flakes at night and pizza in the morning both provide sustenance. If you like the taste, why not.
There's a difference between something being functional for a different purpose to that it was sold for and deliberately choosing something less functional because it's styled the way you like

Hope that clears things up Wink.

I'm aware you said road only, but the point I was making is that cheap is fine. I can not tell the difference between my mates Oakleys and my cheapo goggles.

I always wear my MX lid, I love the extra wide eye hole. So much better visibility compared to all the road hats I've tried. I personally like the ones with visors, but they fog up fast offroad. Although the extended chin could cause issues if caught on grippy tarmac, but I'll risk it.

defintiely agree with you on this! - i tried a mates mx lid and really liked how light it was, the fit, the feel, the visibilty etc etc - i liked lots of things about it and it just " felt right "

and i like the fact they can be cheap too! Thumbs Up

just like you, ill risk it!. i can think of other things that stick out id be more worried about than my extended chin! Laughing
