Not a workshop post as such, as we know what the problem is just can't find the bits!

#3 son has just bought his first bike, a 97 600 bandit.

OH took it for a new back tyre yesterday and reported that although it was fine slow/at low revs, as soon as he opened it up it felt like it was dropping at least one cylinder and there was a distinct lack of power.

He took the carbs to bits last night as we suspected it might be a blocked jet or something, turns out the carb diaphragms are completely knackered. So quite an easy repair, except that he has tasked me with trying to find replacements as he is at work all day today with no net access. Having been looking most of this morning they seem to be made out of rocking-horse poo!

His parts supplier at work can't get them. Wemoto don't have them. Robinsons I'm not sure about as it was me looking and I'm not sure about the exploded diagram - what looked like it could have been the diaphragm to me came in at £82 - each!! Shocked That can't be right, OH seemed to think they would be about a tenner..... this is the link to the relevant parts finder page, am I right that item 16 is the diaphragm?

I have found numerous springs, jets, etc on ebay but no diaphragms. Sad

Help me BCF, where the hell does one buy these things from?

NRP in Manchester will have them, expect to pay about £30 each.

You can try bodging it with rubber cement and patches, but you might as well just pay the money.
