Another new-ish biker here.
I have been mucking around on 125cc bikes for a couple of years but took the plunge in October and passed my test.

Been a bit of lurker here for last few days but thought it only right that I start posting.

My biking hstory has been a bit mixed:
2007 Pioneer XF125 - Chinese POS, but it was my first bike & was reliable, so long as you tightened everything up before jumping on.
2013 CBR125R - Bought it new after a couple of years without a bike. Great fun, and no issue doing 70mph, even though I am fat git!
2011 Hornet 600 - After trying a few out this felt like the best option for me. Picked it up in November, but it hasn't seen much use over the winter. I ride purely for the fun of it, so stuff going out in the snow and rain.

Anyway, I can talk pish as much as anybody, so expect some useless contribution from me in the near future. Thumbs Up

Kerr pretty much sums it up.
Initially wanted to go for something a bit less powerful, but was warned I might outgrow it too quick. So far the Hornet has been very forgiving. Just go for something you like mate.

Really can't stress enough how much easier it is to ride a big bike with an excess of power you need brakes to match than a 125 where you are fending off car drivers trying to bully you.

lovely bike - do you find that screen makes much of a difference at speed? I've got a naked bandit ATM and it's fairly drafty on the motorway, looking to change it

I went 125-636, never felt out of control of it. Go steady on the throttle and its much more enjoyable and confidence inspiring than ragging the life out of a 125 to get anywhere, and generally the bikes likely much better equipped and capable than the 125.

Can't really say for certain as it was on the bike when I bought it.
I don't really have anything to compare it to other than the 125cc bikes, and they didn't do speed and wind at the same time!
