im looking for a starter bike and im not really sure where to start looking, ive found a few out and about but im not sure if im getting ripped off.

today i managed to find a Zontes Tiger for £1299, brand new. comes with 2 years warranty and everythings included in the price apart from Insurance.

i've never heard of this make before so i dont know whether im in for a good deal, or whether im being ripped off. any advice?

For that price you can get a nice YBR125, which is also bound to hold its value better when the time of resale comes.

Get that instead. Thumbs Up

What's your intended plan as to biking?

If its a learner 125 to run for 6 months before doing a big licence, then get an el cheapo second hand Chinese thing with tax and test. Run it in to the ground over 6 months then punt it on, minimum spent and not a lot lost, you'll even learn some basic mechanics on the way.

If it's a 125 you want to run for a long time with minimum work, then get a secondhand CG/YBR/GN. They don't look great but they will go on and on. When you sell them you won't lose much either.

I wouldn't buy Chinese or Jap brand new why take the depreciation hit, find one a year old and let the previous owner suffer the loss.

If you really want a Zontes Tiger then go tyre kick this one https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/for-sale-zontes-tiger-zt125-900-18-months-old-only-561-miles-one-years-tax/1046878728 mumble about it being a bit scruffy and offer the guy 700 quid or something.

Its Japanese, you can offer him £900 and he's likely to take it, it won't break catastrophically and you can get parts for it easy.

Yes in short!

Plus, keep it in good nick and you'll probably get most of your money back when you come to sell it.

It's traditional to go and view it / take a test ride.

If he's got the wit that he was born with, he'll say "Show me the money."

Take money, view/ride bike, offer what you think it's worth.
