Just wondering if anyones had a go at the off road riding experience days anywhere before. It would be for a total novice to offroading so nothing too extreme to start off with Razz

I won't have enough spare cash to even consider getting an offroad bike and everything else involved for a while, but i've been wanting to have a go at it for years now so planning to do one of these in the summer hopefully. Any particular places people would recommend?

Cheers Thumbs Up

Where are you based? Mick Extance school is meant to be good, as are BMW and Yamaha's offroad schools.

There's one near me just outside of Luton that was good fun.

Bournemouth or Bristol would be where i'd have to travel from, but i'd be happy to travel a couple of hours if its somewhere particularly worthwhile.

The Mick Extance is a little over at 3 hours 7 but looks quite good going by the website. Maybe worth the little extra travel to get deep into the welsh countryside for the riding I suppose Razz

If you can get over to Kent in a month or so - can probably sort out a dirty play on a bike.

Some many years ago a member on hear enjoyed the Ady Smith experience day.

Coming from bournemouth really shouldn't be THAT far. I did trackdays at Brands for 8am from Reading enough times without staying over.

Saying that, if you did need it, I probably COULD provide accomodation, providing you don't mind sharing with Paddy's friend Smile.

Thanks for the offers guys that would be great Smile Thumbs Up Kent isn't that far from here, just over a couple of hours so that would be fine.

Wouldn't want to step on anyones toes staying over or anything, would probably be using the car to travel so I can go back late or even kip in the car if needs be Razz

Will of course put some money towards fuel and 'training' costs if anythings arranged Wink

I'll be in my new establishment anyway so as long as Playstation and take aways are your cup of tea, shit is legit. Laughing Even got secure parking Shocked

You don't want to share with Dylan "Slobberhausen" the dog... however.. I also have a Dylan "let me scratch your face with my razor claws" the cat in my house so.. Laughing

Basically what G is saying is you can take out the 144 XC thats sitting in my garage, its his and is a hell load of fun. Laughing

There is a CR125, Iains one, I'm hopefully getting a go on it tomorrow Cool and there is my 200 EXC for pure shits and giggles.

Also if you feelin' so fly, there is a trials bike. Prepare to have sore arms and legs Twisted Evil That said I need to tube the trials bike rear tyre, shall order one tomorrow as the new rim seal thing will not seal, despite advice taken regarding electrical tape Sad

Change out the tea for coffee or booze and sounds just like home Thumbs Up

That'd be great though if its no trouble for either of you coming over and using the bikes. Should be reinsuring the ZX6 in the next few weeks so i'll have to make sure I get a policy that covers riding other bikes. Is there a few good offroading areas near you then, or do you just venture off into green-lanes mainly.

The trials bike would be an interesting ride Shocked hopefully my many hours of skill gained on the xbox will be transferable to real life Laughing https://www.gamersyde.com/news_our_pc_videos_of_trials_evolution-13915.jpg

I'd suggest for a first time somewhere like gingers, or enduro kent is ideal.
Gingers is particularly good for first time-riding as there's loads of space to mess about, however it's a bit basic and a bit further away.
Enduro kent accommodates all levels and isn't generally as 'extreme' as enduroland events.

What's your best Inferno II time? We'll see if we can get something similar setup for you to compare.
Razz

It's not the drooling which means Dylan doesn't sleep in the same room as me - it's the snoring!

Is it basically a bring your own bike n' kit and away you go sort of thing, or would I need to book myself in for a particular date with whoevers coming along with me? I presume my leathers and full face won't be ideal for it either way Laughing good idea for me to grab some cheap used bits off ebay perhaps, or is gear hire available at most of the places?

Can't remember off the top of my head, but its pretty tragic I expect. Last time I power played it regularly I gave up at bronze on a lot of the hard/extreme tracks and resorted to making myself feel accomplished powering through gold medals on hundreds of easy/medium custom downloadable tracks Whistle

I've got some offroad gear, just a set of boots and a lid is needed, I've used my full face lid since getting an offroad bike. I have some basic body armour and some cheap lids if needed.

Its ok, I think its a personal thing... he wouldn't leave me alone at the BCF BBQ and seems to have developed this obsession Laughing

I've got some cheap turtle-armour I got years back as a teenager that fits me if it would be sufficient under/over normal clothes? :think:https://i62.tinypic.com/14uxuhe.jpg
Sizing for gear is likely a problem otherwise as although i'm 5''10ish i'm a skinny runt - The one pictured is for teenagers and it still fits me well Laughing so I may need me to grab a few bits off ebay to play it safe.

I'll just bring along one of my full faces and grab a cheap pair of boots for the rest Thumbs Up

Just some basic armour like that + a helmet and boots should be fine. it is all I'd ever use.

I think that Golding Barn near Brighton do an experience day using Suzukis

There is a school near Bath from what I remember reading in a TBM magazine a few years ago.Have a flick through here

Had a good laugh at the Mick Extance Enduro School last December

I've been out in full leathers for my first times.

Also textiles.

I will SEE if I can dig out a spare set of body armour.

I've learnt one to a friend and should have three in total. But couldn't find the other two last time I looked.

Some kind of knee armour is worth it, though I've seen plenty who don't use it.

Oh, and: Paddy; you can nab an inner tube from the rear tyre I sent you?
If not, I've probably got a spare here somewhere I could bring down.

Just got a new two-piece textile kit so I may as well just use that if its not going to be too constricted. It should be waterproof which will be handy if the weathers bad, yet to test it out though Razz

Generally I'd use OLD kit Smile.

What height/weight are you. I'll see what I've got lying around if I don't find the proper armour.

I'm really slim, only weigh about 60-65kg Laughing 5''10 tall.

Causes no end of problems finding road gear. Don't worry if its a hassle trying to find something i'll probably just browse mx-gear for teenagers on ebay Rolling Eyes

Probably got some stuff that will do.

Have you get some sturdy boots you don't mind getting muddy?

I've got a couple of inches on you and HAVE got down to 72kg a year ago, but 85 at the moment.
