Decent enough write up, and at a £3000 OTR with a helmet and a set of textiles thrown in, that's got to be worth a shout for people needing a cheap commuter?

It would probably be a tolerable commuter for someone mechanically competent, and doubtless depreciates like a stone so a 2 or 3 year old one would be a newish bike for very little money that could provide years of service.

The problem would be finding a decent second hand one to buy. I would be unconvinced of the mechanicaly experience or ability of someone that spends £3k on a brand new Daelim.

Parts availability, insurance, depreciation the problem of finding a buyer for a 250, let alone one who will consider "Chinky crap", the warranty probably isn't worth the paper it's written on and there may be no Daelim presence in the UK in 2 years anyway - Hyosung's sole importer has given up on them.

It needs to offer significantly more (e.g. a 3+ year warranty from an escrow backer) or cost significantly less than the Japanese branded equivalents. It doesn't, and it doesn't. No thanks.

For £3000 you can get a 1 year old CBR250R with less than 2k on the clock. It's a no brainer.

Daelim seem to do ok compared to other non-Japense oriental makes.

But yes, it'll depreciate stupidly.
Wait until you can get one for a grand.

Anyone know if that engine is a copy? Honda? I want some of the better non-jap Asian companies to start designing their own motors so we can see what they are really capable of. My sinnis apache seems to be on a par with any of the jap 125's with regards to quality and maybe better than some of them. But at the end of the day....its still a Suzuki.

Yes, the sales bloke said biggest issue was rust on exhaust, corrosion on swing arm and spokes plus dodgy switches now and then.

We will repaint the exhaust when it starts to turn, he wont be doing a load of miles anyway, he is keen to go for his A2 in July.

Cool, my swing arm and spokes don't have a mark on 'em and its 2 years old. Wash once every couple of weeks and keep it in a garage that's about it!

I read this review with interest too. When I do my big boys licence I will want a bigger bike but I'll still have the short commute to consider (3.5 miles on 40mph roads) so I was thinking of a 250 - small enough to be frugal on the commute, but with enough go for longer trips every now and then.

The only option from the big names seems to be the Suzuki Inazuma which looks like a nice bike but it would be nice to have some choice.

Why not a GPZ500s?
A lot less money, someone on here got C90 fuel economy by riding at C90 speeds and you won't be paying more for depreciation than you're 'saving' on fuel.
