Hi guys.

Sorry for asking a car question on a bike forum. I'm asking on here because I know you guys know your stuff.

I'm in the process of replacing the ABS reluctor rings on my mk2 clio. I have removed the disk and I'm not at the point of removing the hub.

I've removed all the bolts that I need to but the hub has corroded on there pretty solidly so I've come to the conclusion that I need to get a tool.

I've seen various different tools, but I'm looking for your recommendations as to what I should go for?

These include this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clarke-CHT240-Universal-Hub-Puller-FAST-DELIVERY-OR-COLLECT-/161189204225?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2587a01101

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silverline-Harmonic-Balancer-Puller-Kit-13pce-Mechanics-Automotive-Tools-DIY-/360697848671?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item53fb44635f

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BEARING-HUB-PULLER-SET-3-4-6-INTERNAL-EXTERNAL-CAR-VAN-GEAR-PULLEY-3-PIECE-/221282979771?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item33857e4fbb

I'm looking for recommendations as to what tool I should go for to do this job. I guess my budget would be around about the £30 area. The ones I have posted are just what I have seen but don't know how good they are at doing the job that I would need them for.

Thanks for any help guys. Thumbs Up

I think that a really big hammer works really well.

Failing that, I try to find a forum more suited to the job in hand.....

The third one is probably the best one

I've done this job before on the same car and mine was rysty and seized I got a block of wood held it on the hub and hit it with a club hammer then I got a pry bar either side and pulled it off leave the center nut on if you don't want a hub in your chest a strong mate will help aswell

With either tool you should have the center nut on a few turns for safety

dont know the set up of the car but if the hub is held on by the drive shaft bolt then your not using any of those!!

you would have to go for a slide hammer or remove the drive shaft and hit it from behind

This.

I find the fastest and easiest way is to take the whole knuckle off and whack it out with a hammer and socket.

what part of the hub has seized to stop you getting it free?
If its the lower ball joint, remove pinch bolt and drive a chisel in the gap to free the ball joint pin along with plenty of WD 40. These always seize in and need a lot of persuasion to free them.
Try to avoid hitting the lower suspension arm.
With this free undo two bolts holding the hub to the suspension, and the track rod end, the hub should slide off the drive shaft assuming you have already removed the driveshaft nut.

Is this the front or rear your working on? front reluctor rings I would expect to be on the driveshafts, posting some pics would be useful.
