About a year ago I gave my sister my YBR 125 as a long term loan, as I had bought a big bike. Its been a couple of years since I had it serviced, and I can't remember what it cost.

The reason I ask is that she just had an MOT, service, rear tyre and the chain/sprocket done. Grand total is £255, which by my estimate means they are charging her £135 for labour. Because I don't know what the service costs, I don't know if its reasonable or not, so - any YBR 125 owners? What does a service cost you?

Why don't you ask to see the breakdown of costs on the invoice/receipt?

MOT £30
Oil £10 (I wouldn't put a tenner's worth of oil in it but they may)
Rear Tyre £60 ish (depends on what tyre they've fitted)
Chain and sprocket kit £40 ish for a decent set
Spark plug £5 just to be generous
Air filter £10

So that's £155 in bits and the MOT, so £100 including VAT for labour.

Doesn't seem unreasonable to me....

MOT £25 (that's the price round here)
Oil £10 (I wouldn't put a tenner's worth of oil in it but they may)
Rear Tyre £60 ish (depends on what tyre they've fitted)
Chain and sprocket kit £40 ish for a decent set
Spark plug £5 just to be generous
Air filter £10

So that's £150 in bits and the MOT,

but I would do it myself.. don`t trust dealer servicing.
buy a manual if you don`t like their prices.

Looks fine to me. Work isn't cheaper just because it's a 125. If she doesn't want to pay that much, she's going to have to get mucky down on her knees one way or another.

I've just paid £120 for a service on my YBR.

Sounds like it's about the going rate. Unless she wants to do it herself that's about right. If she's not a total mechanical spazz a worthwhile investment is the Haynes manual I've just got one from eBay brand new for 11 quid.
