Alright all!

I'm in the process of converting a 17inch vfr800 rim to fit my 98 CBR900RR. I have all the bits i need and have had spacers machined by me old man but still need to find someone with a big enough lathe to skim a bit off the disc mounting faces on the wheel itself. It's currently 107mm face-to-face but need to skim 3.5mm off each side.

Sooooooo..... main point of this thread, does anyone know of any decent engineering places in the NW (closer to manchester the better), or a realllly good one elsewhere that would accept posting the wheel to them?

A few friends on another forum have done this mod already but sadly the shops they used have closed down now.

Any help appreciated!

Agreed, the home of the industrial revolution and we have no machine shops left.
Friend did mine using a router rather than a lathe. He's a bit knackered now having suffered a mild stroke but he might be persuaded. Where are you?

Cheers

I know of a good machine shop in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
I don't know whether or not they would be able or willing to carry out the work that you require but you can always ask:-

Don't forget you can mill it as well as turn it. Maybe easier to find a machine shop with a cnc miller

It might be easier and cheaper to shim the caliper than machine the wheel.
