Looking to try a sportsbike again (1k or 600), not really sure what I want but that's my budget. (finance)

Something different to the usual IL4 would be nice, but there's not much choice (I've already had a Street Triple so 675 is out)

I like low/mid range grunt. Is the new 636 any good?

Push the budget up a little or keep your eye out for a bargain on an rsv4? Different from an IL4, good looking and comes with the best soundtrack ever! Budget wouldn't get you near an Aprc model however.

I seem to remember you had a zxr? But didn't get along with it, why are you wanting to go back?

Would love an RSV4 but they are just out of budget. My monthlies are maxed so no more.

I had a B1H for like 6 months. Was a good bike but dunno, something was missing for me

Just spotted one on eBay for 7500! Didn't look at it, may have been massive mileage or some damage.

Funny, I've got a b1h currently I can hardly fault it. Well apart from the leaky sump gasket and spongy front brakes. It's a little dated now and not quite as tight and crisp as something newer but I have to remind myself it's 11 years old now!

Again nothing wrong with the SF either. Just fancy a change. I have to do very short journeys sometimes and the Duc doesn't like it

I still have pics of my B1H. Full Akra system, Gilles rear sets, etc. Bought it from Groovy on here. Was my first sportsbike, mostly commuted on it all weather haha

RC8R would be my choice for a faired sportsbike at that money. I prefer the RSV4 engine, but the KTM is better value, just as quick in the real world, and surprisingly comfortable.

RC8 if its 1 bike.

If its 2 bikes, GSXR1000 K6 and with the £3k change a supermoto of some description, a really damn well tricked up 300 EXC with sumo wheels or something like a 625 SMC.

Have 2 bikes, get bored slower Cool

Indeed. With change for a decent 2nd bike.

But, in all honesty, they're clearly not as quick/light/nimble as an RC8/RSV4/S1000RR etc. Nor is the performance nearly as accessible. Possibly not much better than the 1098 for low speed stuff either. Still plenty fast though. And having ridden 30,000+ miles on an SP-1/2, it's easily the most rewarding bike I've owned/ridden. Every ride is still engaging and enjoyable. And you won't lose a penny if you find a good one.

Buy one bike for 2/3rds of your budget and enjoy the left over Pound Coin each month.

Otherwise get a RC8 of MV F4.

You can pick up a beautiful Ducati 848 with goodies for that sort of money. Great looking bike and goes well from what I've read.

Thumbs Up

SP2, spend a bit of the change on a suspension overhaul and some gucci cans if it hasn't already got them.

Absolutely epic bikes, all aggression and absolutely zero refinement. As much as mine was a dog, I still loved every moment I rode on that thing Laughing

Fugly CBR1000RR has the most. S1000RR, then down gear it a little (seen a few at £8k last time I looked I think).

There's not much differentiation in the 600 class from what I can see - get which ever you think is the prettiest and is appropriately comfortable.

L plates, small twin, mid IL4, mid twin, mid triple, big twin...

Why not big IL4 next?

S1000RR.

I'm going to be doing about the same thing in June. Will be putting down a deposit of around a grand, and looking at a brand new / slightly used R6 paid over 3 years or something similar.

Have you considered an MV F3 675? Lovely looking bike, not sure though...

https://blog.motorcycle.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/110211-2012-mv-agusta-f3-675-14.jpg

Also saw one of these which, without the fischer price sticker, looks awesome (US only though, don't even know if they actually exist)... Fischer 650

https://www.onewheeldrive.net/wp-content/uploads/2004/12/fischerpressimage1.jpg

What I'm thinking of getting... (don't know why I like white, but I do)

https://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq177/xzpolskix/Forum%20pics/R6white.jpg

----

I'm looking a great 600 as well so I'll follow this thread in the hope that there's an awesome looking one I've missed that will blow my mind and my wallet open.

In your position I'd get an exotic sportsbike and a scooter (liek a Burgman 400 or something) as a commuter.

If the streetfighter (what a crap name for a factory bike) doesn't like short journeys there's no reason to expect an exotice, non jap, sports bike to like them.
