Hi,

Looking for a replacement shock for my fzr1000 exup 1990.

I have found one from a fzr1000 genesis 1988 and cant seem to work out whether or not it is exactly the same?

Thanks for any advice

Hi

Suspect it would physically fit (based on Yamaha being quite good normally at not changing things unless they have to), but probably the spring rate and damping will be a bit out.

All the best

Keith

I am not sure if the FZR1000 Genesis would fit.But if you have a look in the 'Workshop' section here https://exup1000.co.uk/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=3&sid=bdd7bc59e2bfefc83289db391980e2a7 I remember seeing a list of shocks that would fit the 1990 Exup.Do not buy one from an early R1 as it will not fit.Creedxup on this forum may well have a spare.

The shock from a 1988 Genesis looks more like this

I have heard of Exup shocks being rebuilt by people like Falcon

There is also a list on this forum https://fzr1000.co.uk/ but you will need to register to view.
