No,
there is an improved model coming out for 2014. Cant remember all the improvements but I know it has spoked wheels, headlight fairing, 6 speed and ABS.

TT

EDIT-Got this from MCN site-
HONDA CB 1100 2014 2014 updates to Honda’s four-cylinder classic include a six-speed gearbox, new instrumentation and turn signals plus raised headlight position and Graphite Black paint. The CB1100, brought to Europe in 2013, met a growing demand for a modern Honda motorcycle that paid homage to the company’s legendary four-cylinder past. With its classic and evocative lines, handsome air-cooled engine and the sort of quality and attention to detail that inspires devotion and real pride of ownership, it was an immediate success. For 2014, two CB1100 models will be available. The standard bike has evolved into a bare-bones caf?acer base, available in a striking all-black paint scheme, while the CB1100 EX* adds further subtle difference and enhancements. With Lifetime Guarantee & Low Rate Finance Available.

I think it has a larger tank and a different exhaust as well. It's a lovely looking bike to my mind, but expensive.

No doubt something similar to the old Volvo 'Lifetime Care' warranty.

At best you have to commit to having it serviced by a bona fide garage, using genuine Honda parts, at prescribed intervals (with very little margin for error) worst way, you have to have it looked after by a Honda dealer.

In return, you get a 'lifetime guarantee' that is transferrable to the next owner (massive implied selling point) but most likely contributes less and less to repair costs, as they invoke "reasonable wear and tear" clauses, depending on age and mileage.

This concerns me, I'm only 40 and have to confess a fondness for the cb11, although sporty tourers are my favorite.
A 25 yr warranty sounds good, even if it excludes frame flux. Laughing

Just seen the 2014 CB1100EX on the stand at the MCN show.

I really want to like it, it's my kind of bike, but every time I see one in the flesh, it does nothing for me.

There's something about the proportions that don't seem quite right and it's very small, for such a big engine.

It's so understated it doesn't have any presence at all, it's not even in the same league ae the CB750K0 that was round the corner.

I like them and think they look good in the metal. The two or three times one pulled onto the local bike caf car park last year heads definitely turned, and mutters of appreciation were exchanged. It does look sort of small for a 1.1L though yeah - but I'm not sure that's actually a bad thing as such. If I have a problem with it it's that it's more of a '70s vibe than a '60s - so hence why I prefer something like that W800. At least to look at. Not sure what the 1100 is like to ride, obvs.

Actually, I think you've made me realise what I don't like about it, it's too 60s.

The 70s and 80s were all about muscles and broad shoulders, big engines, big tanks and thick, slightly stepped seats.

Honda have gone with a long, low tank and thin seat, a la 60s, but with a large capacity IL4, which doesn't work for me, it's a car crash of styles.

The W650/800 works because it could be a 60s Triumph, if you squint a bit, the CB1100 is a style which never actually existed.

What said '70s to me was the wheels. And what the bike desperately needed imo was twin pipes. Iirc both those things have been restyled on the latest version.

But a style that never existed? Yeah - I get that. The only thing I'd say is it should have. Because I much prefer that, to where a lot of styling actually started to head in the '80s (square lights, square clocks, square plastics, garish colours, nasty stickers). The CB1100 hints at a different route that could've been taken - where elegance and finesse were more of a priority.

I keep a close eye on this machine, I've yet to have a good look in the flesh it had better be proper Honda quality...20 year good looks quality.

I just think these bikes evoke/tug at simple memories, it comes up a lot with the small 2T arguments etc...

These days I'm not in a rush to get anywhere fast on the bike it's purely leisure so 75hp etc... is more than enough. The argument around low power for such a large engine doesn't enter my head.

Honda seem to have got the market right here as long as the qualities ok. (see I'm questioning it whereas I wouldn't have before!)

Plus nowadays they one of a few types of bikes us grey boys can get on and off easily! I say this after sitting on a friends R6 for about 10 minutes. I needed help to get off and ended up walking about shaped like those one piece leathers that hang up in the shop.

If I was designing a retro bike today, I think I'd look at what people were doing to modify their bikes back in the day. But personally, I'd go monoshock, even at the expense of losing some of the older look though; manufacturers have learned a thing or two since the seventies, and ought to apply some of it. That was the first thing I thought when Kawasaki introduced the Zephyr series; Why twin shock?!

I seem to remember that 70s bikes actually didn't have stepped seats as standard - they were pretty much flat and shapeless, but people replaced them with things like Two-Four seats to add a more "racy" look.

Just to clarify, BMW riders live to be old, pipe smoking, slipper wearing, beard sprouting granddads, yes?

When I say 'live to be' I really mean, 'start out as (and remain so)'
