Not sure where to post this but here we are my life the past two years since I started biking and before we start I didn't own an R6 I finally admit alsoI don't want a moral lecture or sympathy just solid clear advice.

April 2012 - I did my first CBT I wasn't going to be satisfied until I got my own bike a week later I bought a brand new Daelim VJ125 I blew all my savings £2400 I didn't care I was happy for a short while the world was my oyster or so I thought. It ended up costing me several hundreds of pounds in lost wages and many dark cold nights stranded somewhere between Bradford and home. My problems first started when the coil wires somehow just came lose through vibrations the coil its self broke free from the underside of the tank it would never get very far without dying from that day on with no mechanical knowledge or any idea what to do I joined BCF carrying a can of wd40 was the best solution I did take it back to Bennets however they didn't care once they had took my money each and every time I got it back it was bodged and rushed in the end I ran out of money and was doing what I could. Two months later I hit a diesel spill on a roundabout on the way to work I was working at poundworld in Normanton at the time - Raffles if you still have it that is where the scratched exhaust came to be. Then I received my first LC20 yes you guessed it no L plates.

June 2012 - I got a CD10 on my provisional long story short silly cow on the end of the street walked off the pavement without paying attention and collided with my mirror we both hit the deck. The neighbours were backing her side of events even though only one witnessed the whole thing oh and her injuries were 'severer' obviously after hitting her at 5mph.

Initially two PCs attended the scene and were going to take me to the station for questioning didn't really have a clue what they were doing the sharper one of the two called for a traffic investigating officer who did know what he was doing he interviewed me and breathalysed me after getting the cows version of events he then summed it up and cleared me of any wrong doing. She was not paying attention.

This sour faced bitter cow was not done with me though by a long shot about five weeks later 'new evidence came to light' basically she went around bribing the neighbours to lie for her in court the police came back dragged me to the back of the car for another interview pressurised me and made me change my statement.

When it went to court the lying cow got a couple of grand in compensation I got three points and an £80.00 fine plus costs. She had a new boiler put in and her so injuries seemed to have gone away over night.

September 2012 - it had been pouring it down with rain all night I was in Bradford completely lost soaked to the skin looking for a warehouse I was supposed to be working at that night so I am waiting to turn into a side street off a busy main road to get my bearings I turned too early whilst a car was coming he clipped my back end I went over the handle bars and cracked my head hard into the floor was wearing my LS2 helmet what is far too big I still get shooting pains in my shoulders today.

My bike went on to its side hard broke the foot peg gear changer and indicator cover upon impact and slid several feet down the side street. I immediately got up and went to my bike two passer bys helped me get it up never got their details they disappeared into the night before I realised this was real minutes later the car driver ran over screaming his innocence I admitted it was my fault I didn't want the police to attend as I wasn't displaying L we agreed to pay for our own vehicles fixed. My poor Daelim took the full force his car had a scratch on the bumper he soon fucked off once he knew he could.

So I am left in the pouring rain with my broken Daelim at half ten at night battered in shock after a few cigarettes I calmed down and realised I wasn't that lost after all just took one wrong turn by this time it was knocking on midnight a decision had to be made I tried to limp home the thirty odd miles in first gear only got about three miles and gave up in fear of blowing my bike up I was in quite a lot of pain by this stage and exhausted so I started to look for somewhere to call it a night found an old council yard with lots of woodland surrounding I rode into the tree line for shelter from the wind and rain and bedded down for the night with my Daelim starving cold exhausted wasn't long it was a very long night.

Next day I woke around 7am the rain had ceased but I felt shocking my legs were killing I was severely bruised down my left thigh. Anyway I had to get home some how with no battery left on my phone I had to go in search of a local greasy spoon to use their phone and find the number for the AA although I didn't fancy my chances my face was covered in mud I was drenched stunk and slurring my words. Explained recent events to the owner who gave me something to eat and drink felt a little better then I phoned the AA and got stung with a three digit emergency joining fee can't remember exactly what it was two hours later someone came to me and my bike stated the obvious it was dangerous and needed recovering to a bike shop once I told him I'd bought it from Barnsley he couldn't take me that far or couldn't be botherd he bodged it back together a bolt through the hole where the peg snapped and made me gaffa tape the lens cover on the indicator whilst he did the paper work I was sorted he made me promise I take it straight to Bennets which I didn't because by this time I knew the warranty was void I was skint with no job.

Things just got worse from this stage I won't go into details but eventually the bike died on me and I had to push it seven miles home when I finally did get Bennets to pick it up after about eight weeks of constant calls he Paul instructed the mechanic Russ to bullshit me the engine was seized the real reason was all the soldering and pulling at the coil wires.

At this point it is April twenty thirteen one year after my CBT I decide it is best to forget about the Daelim so get it delivered back to me after over twenty phone calls not had anything to do with bennets or ever will again.

April 2013 - I am working in Bradford which is committable on the train I worked there for a solid six months grinding and saving for my varadero which I finally bought after weeks of searching in Aug last year for £1200 Raffles took my Daelim away a few days later for £100 around a month later I am told it was a fuse what had blown.

Apart from the sprocket failing on my varadero which happened on Friday the 13th of September last year it has never let that was over twenty five thousand miles ago.

September 2013 - I was laid off I've just been working through agencies since then to now my current job being the longest this year I've been there now a month work is still plenty full.

October 2013 - I am caught riding with out L plates again I told the cop someone had taken them off where I was currently working I just didn't want to display them my own fault had them on every day since though front and rear I just decided to I needed to pass my test to get rid of them.

Got offered the conditional offer of three points and a £100 fine but work was high and dry and I was on job seekers by the time I found something the offer had expired.

March 2014 - Which is when work only just started to pick up after two month of being on job seekers 14th march this year passed my MOD 1 on my varadero first time. I knew my CBT was soon to expire so wanted to get MOD 2 done before it did again work dried up and I couldn't afford it so it had to wait.

April expired along with my CBT fortunately been in work for the last five weeks so was just a matter of booking it again which I did for two days ago £75 on my own bike didn't even ask for current CBT there was only me doing it so got some useful tips for MOD 2 the CBT instructor was confident that I am ready to take the test.

Soon as I got home I booked it for Friday tomorrow. This morning though the court papers came through for riding with no L plates last year it is going to Leeds magistrates on the 27th.

If I pass my MOD 2 tomorrow with six points then acquire three points or am I likely to get more? Will my licence I have yearned for so long be automatically revoked under the new drivers act?

I haven't been to bed yet I am anxious and worried work again tonight as well what is the likely outcome in court shall I attend or write a letter? Will it make any difference? If I lose my license I won't be able to travel half as far as I do now for work.

One more thing currently have my out of date tax disc on display 30th April I have bought new tax online just waiting for the disc. Will the examiner still take me out?

TLDR;Six points on provisional licence court on the 27th for not displaying L plates last year MOD 2 tomorrow if I turn up and pass will my licence be revoked on the 27th?

However, if I've read your TL;DR right then...
Date of points is from date of offence, not conviction. So you'll have 6 points on your provisional that if you pass your test will be carried over to your full licence.

Then if you get any more, to send you over the 6 already got, within first 2 years then licence revoked.

That's the way I believe it's supposed to work.

However, if you can't weigh up a few quid for L plates versus fine and points then I doubt there's much hope for you long term.

No one on any forum seems to know a defiant answer do I lose £75 and wait until after the court case then do my MOD 2?

Or do I pass my MOD 2 tomorrow? Safely not be revoked on the 27th?

I am aware I could get 3 - 6 points in court but I am going to put up a very good fight if I lose my licence I won't be able to pay court fines and the rest of the shite because I need my bike to get to work is this likely to save me?

Like map said, the points will be added to your license from the date of the offence, and you can rack up 12 points on a provisional. So you won't lose your newly attainted pinky unless you ride like a knobber and get caught.

Just be a good boy from now on.

Also, well done for coming clean, takes balls but will certainly earn a bit more respect than what you had.

If the bike isn't displaying a current tax disc the examiner wont take you out, however, if you have a receipt for the tax thats in the post, you might just wing it. i can't remember off the top of my head how long the grace period is. Best bet is ring the test centre before you go and ask.

Thanks I am scheduled to attempt MOD 2 at 10.31 tomorrow Rotherham test centre I finish work at six if I fail it is going to be due to no sleep in two days. I passed MOD 1 with no training or sleep though so we'll see.

Regarding the court issue I am getting mixed answers I need the man who wears the orange hi vis to confirm whether or not to turn up to MOD 2. Karma will generously be rewarded.

If you have paid for it then Just turn up for it and pass the test, that way if you don't get to the 12 point mark then you will be ok to ride a bigger bike. If you do get banned then that will be unfortunate but no point in wasting the £75 quid if you have already paid.

Edit :- just noticed you got the test tomorrow, just go for it.

You say your Mod2 is tomorrow, you can't cancel it with this much short notice so you "loose the £75" anyway. No ifs or buts.

You should be able to get a receipt emailed to you online take that with you tomorrow should cover you. Regarding the points no idea.

1. Finance Act 2013 S188 (2) increased the grace period for not displaying a new tax disc to 14 days.

2. On whether you'll get revoked if another 3 points is applied after you've passed for an incident that happened beforehand, I honestly don't know for sure, and I won't guess. It's the DVLA, they're almost literally a law unto themselves.

What I can tell you is that when you pass tomorrow (good luck) then your examiner will expect you to hand over your current physical license and he'll shred it and tell the DVLA that you've passed and they should issue a new one. You don't have to do that. You can opt to retain your current physical license and then tell the DVLA yourself later that you've passed.

Note that you have up to 2 years to do that, i.e. you could wait until after any points from the court are applied to what the DVLA will still consider to be your provisional entitlement. Also, the court will want you to surrender a physical license - give them your provisional one.

The fact that you've actually passed is between you, the examiner, and that precious piece of paper, until the dust has settled and you can send it in to the DVLA (recorded delivery, or if you can find a local DVLA office that's still open, go in there and see if they'll give you some form of receipt for it).


3. What's the date of the alleged L plate offence in October 2013, and what's the date that the CPS filed it with the court? If there's more than 6 months between the two dates, you might be able to have it thrown out.

So you have mod 2 booked for tomorrow and you are wondering if you should attend?

If you have paid for it then definitely!

If you are then banned do you have to take a re test? I don't know because I have had my driving licence for umpteen years and never took a test after a ban, I had 3 bans in total but that was many years ago and they don't show on my licence now. I have served my sentence so spare me the lectures.

I have recently taken my test and riding a big bike legally on the road is awesome. So if by some miracle you are still road legal next month then it will all be worth it!
