I'm going to take my test, I have the money, all I have to do is get the time off work, pass the theory and do the test. I really want a 600 after riding my dad's*(paid for with my money so really mine) in my garden. I'm going to keep the 33hp restrictor in for a while so I don't kill my self too quickly. What bike what be suitable? Any opinions appreciated. I'm thinking a Fazer. Drooling

Fazers are quite tall. I would suggest a nice Honda Hornet. The seat is both lower and narrower than the fazer, and they are very quick. Also the build quality on the Honda will be so much better. Thumbs Up

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Only my opinion, but go for a CB500.

Cracking first "larger" bike, quick enough to get you into trouble, but stable enough to forgive all your difficulties.

Won't cost a bomb if you drop it.

And you may well learn a lot from it, before heading onto something bigger/better/faster.

Shh. Shhh! To be honest with you, I'm a bit of a tart, I want something that will look good and be fast when I de-restrict it. Maybe an R6?

I you want a 600 the Fazer is very nice bike!

CBR600 = very high on insurance.

I'd personally prefer a 600 Bandit, cheap to insure, and to run too. Smile

Ive found my Hornet is a good step into 'Big bikes.

When derestricted you have the power to scare you, and power wheely in first gear Smile . Honda Build quality is first to none as usual, just change the chain when you think its getting a bit stretched, otherwise it do stupid amounts of damage to your engine Wink .

My insurance is £729 tpft with 3 points (ts10) and a £600 claim at 17.

R6 is short and small, but is wide, so can be difficult to get your feet down if your short... They are good bikes, a bit dead restricted but still went nicely for the short time mine was restricted, you'll soon get bored though.

Fucking expensive if you drop it though so I wouldn't reccomend as first proper bike Shocked

How much do you want to spend? I just sold a Suzuki RF600 for a grand and in my opinion that ain't a bad first bike, reasonably quick, brakes are acceptable although not great and it handled pretty damn ok! CBR is probably the best choice because you are buying a bullet proof bike, Honda build quality is legendary! but they cost a fair bit more than comparable bikes.

Have fun

4 washers under each carb inlet and some tube things over the return springs in the carbs, this means the carb slides don't move up AT ALL thus restricting the bike, it's shocking really to think that the whole carb movement is stopped Shocked

I borrowed my mates R1 a while ago and took it to work, i hit 177 on the clock on the way so I guess you would need some pretty big restricter washers so slow that baby down a bit..... Very Happy maybe you could bolt a snooker table to it?.....

God, I thought I was brave tonight with 120mph.

Thats my fastest so far and it felt comfortable - Clear road and no cross wind (I was only in 4th).

In my opinion cliff you haven't been riding all that long and still have newbie mistakes to make so a sports bike may not be ideal straight away, fairings are expensive to replace. At the end of the day you get what you want, I hear goose is selling a lovely bike. Wink

No Bros. I want tarty. Or I could restrict the Bandit 600s that's in my back garden. Twisted Evil I don't like the front fairing though. Rolling Eyes
